Title: Calis beach, Silver man Edi, passed away
Post by: Inspector on September 02, 2018, 09:10:27 AM
Beloved shopkeeper of Çalış, Silver man Edi passed away this morning. He had been treated for about a month. His honesty and humor will never be forgotten.

Gutted to be reading this. What a lovely mild mannered gentleman, who had time for everyone. He was one of Calis Beach’s big characters.

Difficult to grasp that we won’t be seeing Edi on our various trips up and down Bridge Street anymore.

He was a gentle, caring and witty man and as some have already said, one of the true established Calis characters. The resort is a little poorer this morning.

Rest in peace Edi, our friend.

Dear Edi im soo sad to hear about his passing today, part of me was still hoping he would be ok but i knew deep down it was not looking good...as Scunner says it wont be the same going past his shop without Edi sat there and his little kopek...
Such a kind man and always made me laugh with some of the things he said particularly with one conversation about the m*****f*****ing “wee fella” re all things happening here in Turkey, I laughed for ages after...
R.i.p Edi Calis just wont be the same without you :'(

Edi was indeed a lovely man and too generous.  He was such a mild mannered man.  I was sad to see him looking so I’ll when I was there in June but he never complained. God Bless him and May his soul rest in peace.

John & I went to Edis funeral today. There was a huge turnout, unsurprisingly.
Very emotional, he was so loved.
Broke my heart last night seeing his little dog sleeping outside the shop.
I've been assured the locals are looking out for him.

From the posts on here and on FB I hope Edi knew how much he was loved and respected by so many people. He will certainly be missed.

We have checked on Edis dog every morning and night for the past few days .. he is still laying in front of the shutters, very quiet and so very sad . I have spoken to a few of the jewellers and they have said the dog will be looked after but he won’t leave the shop front yet so there is nothing they can do until he knows Edi isn’t coming back to him .There is plenty of food and water ,but it’s very heartbreaking to see this little guy grieve for his master . I so hope with all my heart he is cared for to the end of his days because he is an old fella, with faded vision and could never adapt to living on the streets . Edis would hate that for his little buddy.

Ah that is soo lovely you have been checking on Edi’s little dog   :)I was going to yesterday when we left the beach but we ended up going home a diff way..Im sure someone will look after Mickey...Im sure Edi used to leave him outside shop at night once he had locked up...I still cant believe Il never see Edi again he was a big part of Calis for me, never wanted to even look in any other jewellers...Last year I spent 5 months here and my son stayed for 6 weeks, we often would stop and chat with Edi of an evening, he always said one night we will make barbecue and drink raki at back of my shop, I honestly meant to do it one night with Jack just never did and again this summer I thought we will defo do it this year, then seeing Edi was clearly soo not right in it was either June or July, Iv have learnt a very valuable lesson “never put off until tomorrow what you can do today”...
R.i.p Edi you are very missed    :'(

So very sorry to hear this , not been for a couple of yrs, but was there in July this year, always had a little chat about his dog ("said it's not really his dog" ) and a little stroke, going again in October, may be a little tear , as there is writing this.

Edi's sister and brother have opened the shop again, and Senay at the Gunisik was feeding the dog (along with a couple of other people) til they came.
