Has anyone with dual nationality (Turkish/ British) had problems entering or leaving Turkey with just their UK passport and Turkish ID card or is a Turkish passport also necessary?
-
Never. I have had my kimlik for over 10 years, always travel out and in on it with my British passport. Never been questioned. It is completely legal to do this. My son has done the same since birth to.

It depends if you want to travel out as a Turkish national or a British national. If it's British you do it with your Brit passport, but if you want to travel as a Turkish national you have to use a Turkish passport.
This , of course, is only for dual nationality as kaptain mentioned.

My eldest daughter is 31 and she has been using her kimlik with her British passport since she was a couple of months old, I too use my UK passport with my kimlik. We have never had a problem.

Thanks for the information all.
Not so clever, Scunner - took us nearly 3 years to do. Wish we had not listened to the "doom- merchants". Could have had it 5 years ago!!

So does this mean that you dont have to pay to get the tourist visa if you have a kimlik but not a Turkish passport?
-
You don't pay for a tourist visa with just a UK passport & blue residency book either

Yes i realise that,i lived in Turkey for a long time but i have never entered Turkey with my kimlik, and as i now wish to return,of course, i dont have residency so i wondered if i still have to get a visa as i dont have a Turkish passport?
