Below is the posting by Soo Parr;

Soo Parr I have just heard that there is a hotel in Akyarlar called the Kefaluka that has 2 dolphins kept in a cage and that they are charging 70GBP for a 5 minute swim. What can we do about this?

...and the replies to the post are below;

Dee Lees;
Soo its a new hotel, I don't know about the dolphins, I wish I still lived in Turgutreis as i would check it out (its only a short drive away) I have checked and its a Thomas Cook Hotel so maybe we can start with them. Nothing is mentioned about this on the hotel info on Thomas Cook site

It's the Kefaluka Resort so you can Google it. Reports on Trip Advisor by guests say the Dolphins are injured around their faces but people are encouraged to still kiss them non their faces.GRRRRRR

Are they the Dolphins from the Dolphin Park that closed recently....if not where have they come from as guests say they are a new addition. They are kept in a small sea pen off the pier.

 Thomas Cook currently have a stop sale of dolphinaria in Turkey - I had a meeting with them in February which confirmed this and a good relationship with their staff. They are completely transparent with their activities and I would be very surprised if they are endorsing this. I will update you if I hear any news.

Just to let you all know that Bodrum Dolphin Park never did close... (news article in New Zealand's Scoop) we had it checked out and its unsurprisingly still open for business.

So more importantly where did they come? Are they new imports?

An update on FB from Louise Hardy regarding Thomas Cook;

"Louise Hardy;
 We have had an email confirming that they are aware of this and are investigating as a matter of urgency."
