It seems there as been a couple of dog incidents on the prom in recent weeks.
Always be careful with the strays especially if you have children.
-
Some of the comments on this topic in "the other place" are quite astonishing. :(
-
Agreed John. It seems some people put animals above humans no matter what the former do.
It’s never the dogs fault - always the human influence. I mean it’s not like dogs haven’t bitten each other for centuries. They are animals and their only form of defence or attack is with their teeth.
-
Once they start attacking humans they need to be culled. This is a tragedy waiting to happen,it appears to be getting worse year on year.
Oh and I don’t really care about the do Goode’s/ animal lovers views on this as they always seem to put animals over humans.
-
ive joined in on the other place with this topic as there iş öne dog in particular that iş causing the majority of the problems, this dog 'Zeena' has been taken away to the pound on a few occasions only for a do gooder to get the dog returned, saw it attack owned doğs on 3 occasions whilst i was there today, posted a video on the other site were said dog tried it with the wrong dog & got bit back, crazy that these people call themselves animal lovers.
-
They are also pack animals so if one attacks others join in.
It’s only a matter of time before a child is seriously injured.
-
Its not just the prom either.
I do a lot of walking round calis and have to carry a stick just in case.
We have been in restaurants and customers are feeding dogs from the table.
That winds me up but you cannot win the argument with these people
-
15 years here never been attacked by a dog guess I'm lucky
Go down the Calis prom 2/3 times a week and feel safe with the dogs
As for dogs in Restuarants, go to England and people with there dogs
Sitting inside with there dogs eating, Animal friendly they call it . :)😎😎😎😃🐕🐕
-
I honestly don't know any restaurants in England that allow dogs.
-
You need to get out more Bluwise. For instance, there's a restaurant local to us called m'Eating Point, in Llangollen that not only allows dogs, they positively encourage owners to bring them in. And it's got a 5 Food Safety rating.

And this article features the 17 Best Dog Friendly Restaurants in North Wales.

I wouldn't go to a restaurant that allows dogs. I also do everything I can to avoid "pet friendly" hotels. Each to their own though.
-
Me too Scunner!

Telford in Shropshire is the one I went in,and it was packed,
-
As far as I know even dog friendly places in U.K. don’t allow them where people are eating. If they do I would certainly avoid, who wants to eat with animals around
-
I can just imagine dog owners having their dogs with them in restaurants vehemently complaining if someone lit up a cigarette. :(
-
Because smoking in restaurants is illegal, but taking a dog into one isn't ?
-
Most of the rural areas I have lived in allow dogs in the pub where you can order food.
-
Posted about the dogs on 3rd June and my concerns.Seems like I was right .
-
Must admit I’ve seen dog friendly pubs that serve food but not any out and out restaurants.
-
Surely the difference is that if the dog causes a problem in a pub, the owner and/or the landlord can ask them to leave.
That's not an option at 35,000 feet.

Apparently the same dog has bitten someone else today or may have been yesterday only skimmed over the thread
-
Yes reported in CBL today that it’s bitten someone else, usual stuff from bleeding hearts
-
Think the biting incident today was by little legs who bit a cyclist which is another dog, 2 others have been removed for biting /attacking.

Same dog!
It’s been removed but will be back in ten days evidently.
-
Oh, no! Not little fat dog!?!
We look for that dog on every trip since she has such a personality...she stalks his prey walking on the promenade then goes right up in front of the unwary pedestrian and flops over on her back with stubby legs in the air. ;D Cracks me up every time!
The ONLY time I've ever seen her be anything other than pathetic (begging, mostly) is when the bin man comes by on his little truck...they all go mad for the bin man but leave every other cyclist, scooter, mobility scooter, etc. alone (plus all the other vehicles that are banned from the promenade).
-
IF that is the dog that has now bitten two people it needs to be put down .I love dogs and have always had dogs but if it bites people that's it .
It could be a small child on holiday next .
-
Couldn't agree more steveb1 before it bites a small child in a push chair. >:(
-
I agree but also have similar feelings as horned frog. We know this dog well and it is difficult to imagine it biting people. I wonder what has changed to make such a difference in it.

"Allegedly" it's riddled with arthritis or similar so I imagine it will be in pain, the offer of a forever home at Haydos is there, the locals just have to take it once it's been let out of the shelter.
-
It’s bitten again:
”So here we go again. Sitting on the Çalış Beach front having lunch and out comes the brown dog and bites a guy on a motorbike. It went through his shoe and drew blood.“
-
If it is the same dog then enough is enough !!! >:( >:( >:(
-
Dog lovers already blaming the fact he was riding a bike on the prom. The guy not the dog!
-
Maybe it is the Zabita Prom Protection Dog, employed to keep it bike free.
-
We walked around the corner of the Prom at Calis tonight two chaps on a Scooter
came flying round,, the cornerthey would have killed a child or anybody the speed they were
Going, but a dog jumped out on them, they braked Quickly and started kicking
at the dog, so two more dogs joined in barking at them, and they drove off
Slowly down the prom so it's doing the prom a favour at the moment
slowing the Madheads down, and they had a nice stroke from the Wife and Myself
The dogs that is.

Animals in and around restaurants is a complete no no to me. It has never failed to amaze me how expats lavish money on animal charities. I have worked in Greece, Turkey and Tunisia and the number of expats who donate to animal charities is amazing. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with caring about animals but in each of these countries, the children’s charities could have been better served.
-
Well said Ray always been a mystery to me how expats go dog and cat mad as well. Each to their own but not in restaurants where Iam eating, not biting or terrorising people
-
If it is the same dog then enough is enough !!! >:( >:( >:(
Allegedly it's not the same one as a couple of weeks ago.
-
If that is the case Supacabby then that's at least two (minimum) that need to be taken off the streets. >:(
-
If it wasnt for animal charities charities Calis would be heaving with cats and dogs
Instead of a couple causing trouble,

I have today removed myself from said FB group after torrents of abuse from one member, egged on by one of the moderators.
No one is allowed an opinion on this or any other dog.
It seems it's their home, we should be more careful around them, they used the prom before us etc etc.
Let's see how many businesses start bleating about the lack of custom due to the dogs.
I'm not afraid of dogs and often stop to stroke or give them my doggy bag from the restaurant, not in it I might add but with so much bad press at the moment I think I'll be a bit more cautious now.
Billy complained to the admin of said group when he read the post and it was taken down immediately but the keyboard warriors will no doubt be at it again soon
-
...and they always said CBF was aggressive and cliquey - we were/are angelic compared with some facebook groups...
You can't win Anne, it astonishes me how tunnel visioned people are when keyboard warrioring - and animals is on par with politics for people who cannot begin to accommodate or at least consider their view may not be the fully correct one. People can be entirely bigoted and unerring in their view of incidents.
For the record, I agree with everything in your post above. We like the dogs, many know us well, I can't remember any negative incident involving us and dogs - but you can't have people on the prom of a holiday resort getting attacked and bitten - even if they shouldn't be riding a bike there, that is simply ridiculous and unjustifiable. I bet their opinion would change if it were them who was bitten.
After years of campaigning and arguing I don't get involved much. Not because I don't want to, I do, I enjoy that sort of thing. The fact is that people are increasingly set in their views as time goes on - some people simply couldn't begin to accommodate that there might be a different view to theirs on Brexit for example. I'd struggle to change any minds, but I didn't want that - I just wanted them to understand why some have an opposing view, like I don't agree with them but am able to see why they might think the way they do.
Ultimately it's about time management and probability of success. I can persuade 97 out of 100 friends on holiday not to leave , and stay for one more, but only 1 in a million Brexiters to convert to remain. So I concentrate on arguments I am more likely to win :D
-
It's the same with political discussions Anne.
If people have the temerity to disagree with their views they immediately resort to personal insults to the point that they suggest you shouldn;t even exist.
You are will rid.
-
It's not the Dogs fault they are there, its not the Expats fault they are there
It's the Turkish people that dump them by the roadside and were ever they can.
All the dogs want is love and something to eat
I would hate to think what would happen if animal charities packed up.
As the vet have a no Put down policy..for Cats and Dogs.
-
It's water off a ducks back to me Keith. Have dealt with worse in the pub on a Saturday night but at least then I knew what I was dealing with 😂
Davy I agree with what your saying, without the charities the problem would be worse but no one has the right to personally attack, be that verbal or physical another person for having a different opinion.
The dog in question has now bitten three people, chased and been aggressive towards more if what I've read is correct so, surely the time has come for something more constructive to be done
-
I know this is about the dogs but I just wanted to say how CBF has and always will be my first port of call re anything I need to know if I want to keep things real and get an unbiased answer.
Some of the FB groups are just completely ridiculous in their rose coloured glasses approach to all things Calis related.
Also re what Highlander has said re if you disagree with some folks views on certain groups.
I do apologise that this is not dog related but last year poss the year before I accidentally quoted a meal at a restaurant as being 10tl too much omg just hang me now! One person would not let it go she tagged the owner too in the thread like because of this Im going to put them out of business!
I apologised to the owner for my genuine mistake but will never go to said restaurant again.
-
Where is the logic in the argument that the dogs used the prom before we did?
A Turkish man can stab me because they were in Turkey before I was?
-
Agree with all that's been said about certain fb groups to the point where I wonder why I bother. Some of the people are not just pathetic, they are downright nasty and so blinkered, whether it's politics, restaurants, dogs or just Calis in general.
As for the dogs I'm not a great dog lover but as long as they are not causing any problems I don't mind. However, I don't want them in restaurants when I'm enjoying a nice meal and a drink and do not like to see people encouraging them in to feed them. If you want to do that go somewhere else! But then if you say something you take the risk if getting your head bitten off.
