Hi All
We are going to furnish our new apartment in April in Daliktas and have heard conflicting reports of whether to get TV and satelite dish or not. What channels can you get and is it worth getting? My husband will not be able to manage without SKY sports etc. If it is any good where is the best palce to buy?
-
From Gary (member ECHOSTAR) if you need Sky Sports. But bring your sky box and card with you, and don't tell Sky.
-
Thanks Scunner - my hubby will be pleased but my son who is staying at home will not!!! Ha ha. But may try it.
-
Scunner forgot to mention, you`ll need to get a dish as big as your house. :D
-
only if she lives in a Wendy house
-
1.5m for Sky Sports
Doesn't look big at all up on the roof

:D
-
I'll pack one in my suitcase!!! Lol!
-
we get digiturk not bad prices at think when i last looked it was 19ytl a month that was including a couple of film channels
-
Some people say they are an eyesore. Nonsense, here is my house

Actually, the real one is the one on the far left - not that big looking :D
-
Bugger the satellite dishes, where`s that house ? it`s gorgeous.
-
You've only ever seen it in the dark Crabbo :)
It is looking out onto Red Island and is NOT for sale, there isn't a house like it with that sort of position in Calis. Somewhat strangely however, a Turkish man knocked on the door and wanted to buy it just last week, how uncouth - but I did consider it, I haven't said no yet :D
-
If he makes an offer you would be happy with, you would be foolish not to accept it
-
I didn't say he made an offer I was happy with :)
-
Not sure if I'm being a little thick! but I've read that you can bring your sky box & card over to Turkey and obviously get sky channels. Do you still have to be paying for it in England [?]
-
Yes :)
Unless you only want to watch the channels which are free anyway, shopping and God channels in general, but also BBC1 & ITV - but you'll need a 3m dish for those two.
-
Ok. Thanks Scunner. Might be a problem as we are moving to Turkey in early Sept so won't have Sky in the UK.[?][?]
-
[:o]
Yes I know you are moving to Turkey, that is why you asked the question about bringing your Sky box. I can't help feeling that Digiturk might be the best thing for you [:o]
-
hi all just been reading these threads isnt there some way you can get bbc & itv without a big dish , i think its been talked about before , i would be interested if anyone has any info
-
Yep, stay in the UK!
-
Alan
How rude [:o]
-
that wasnt called for kkob, always found the cbf very informative and friendly maybe i shold change my mind.
-
We are very informative and friendly :)
The actual answer is no, without a large dish you can't get BBC & ITV. Unless you buy the vacant plot next to my house and I'll sling a cable over the fence for you :D
-
thanks for the info i'l give that idea some thought . can i use your electric as well !
-
We are linked into a 3 meter dish & are using my Sky + box & card from UK.
You can only get the channels from the Astra 2 satelite so still no BBC or ITV.
We get about 70 channels and it does include most film channels & sports.
Does anybody know if the scheme that failed earlier this year has any chance of happening in the future?
-
Hi Nigel
You have the same set up as me, and I get BBC1 & ITV fine - sounds like you need a good guy to fine tune your alignment. Gary (CBF member Echostar) is that good guy.
I think the new TV scheme is absolutely dead and buried now.
-
Thanks Keith
does sound like you have a few problems Nigel or whos dish it is, mind you it does make a differance on the make co-ax cable used and lnb and the setting up etc of the whole system, there could be lots of reasons why it is not working. and the most common problem is people try to do it on the cheap. not any old 3 mtr dish will do the job
