Title: Television Recipe's My Arse
Post by: Scunner on December 18, 2008, 21:59:36 PM
If you knew me, you would answer the question "where in Calis can you get the best pizza - the answer is Scunner's house :D

For UK (and boar hunters in Turkey) I give you my simplest and best recipe ever...

Buy 4x or indeed 6 pork loins

Done that?

Take a substantial (or not so) casserole dish

Cut a whole large onion into 2mm rings and cover the bottom of your casserole dish

Whack a fair elbow of white wine upon said onion rings

Place pork loins upon said white wine, overlap them if you your dish is a little slender

Cut and core 4-6 apples (any type, we'll pull through) into slices and place upon aforementioned pork loins, make it uniform though, a proper layer

Look at your casserole dish with 4oz of butter, cut it into cubes and drop it into the obvious areas. Take a pinch of cloves and sprinkle evenly.

Cook at the lowest temperature your oven can do, reply here if I didn't just give you one of the best recipes in 5 minutes you ever heard  :)

Thats the one!!!!!!!!

Our recipe would have a slight amendment to Scunners though.

"Whack a fair elbow of white wine upon said onion rings"
should become
"Whack a fair elbow of white wine upon said onion rings and neck the rest"

I am sure Rindaloo will recognise the excellent terminology:D

OK, here goes,

The sauce for the base is a cooked sauce using, 1x400gr tin tomatoes wizzed down, add garlic paste (a good teaspoon), tomato puree (1 heaped tablespoon) and italian herbs (a good table spoon), let this all heat through well, and then add a quarter teaspoon of sugar.

This is more than enough for 1 pizza, so what you don't use, when cold, put into something like ice cube trays and freeze for next time, or you can fry up some mincemeat and onions, add to sauce and hey presto, bolognese.

Pizza base:- 6 oz plain white flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon easy blend dried yeast, half teaspoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 4 fluid oz of hand hot water.
Mix all the above, knead for about 3 mins, let rise until about double the size. roll out to required size (about 10" thick crust or around 14" thin crust). Again you can increase the amounts and freeze in portion size amounts.

Construction :- Place rolled out dough onto pizza screen/tray, spread tomato sauce on base (not too heavy), add thinly cut onion, chopped peppers (a mix of green, red and yellow improves appearance), chopped mushrooms, pepperoni or the toppings of your choice, ham and pineapple is good, chicken and sweetcorn or even turkey and stuffing for a christmes pizza.

Sprinkle top with generous layer of a mix of mozzarella and mature cheddar, decorate top with slices of pepperoni or bits of ham depending on type of pizza. Now this is the bit that make the pizza smell authentic, a light dusting of the Italian herbs, place in oven pre heated to about 180 degree for around 20 mins, or until it looks cooked. Take out of oven and let stand for a couple of minutes then cut into portions. Enjoy.:D

Here's my lazy git impressive dessert, let me know if you try it, I bet you like it :D

Buy a packet of ginger nut biscuits

Lay them all flat on something like a baking tray.

Pour a teaspoon of whisky or brandy onto each. (Tia Maria works well too)

Cover with cling film and put in the fridge.

Go to bed.

Next day, whip up a big pot of double cream.

Place one ginger nut in front of you.

With a spatula, whack a bit of cream onto it.

Stick another ginger nut on top, more cream, keep going till you have them all cemented together :D

Turn it horizontal and cover the lot in whipped cream.

Grate some chocolate over it

Eat it.

Go on, try it, you'll impress yourself  ;)

Take one (or as many as you like) McVities Ginger cake (or similar).  Slice in half (sideways-length-ways).  Pile bottom half with Peach slices, replace top half.  Pile the top with Peach slices and pre-whipped double cream.  Serve with more cream, whipped or otherwise.

Alcohol can be added if in a 'child free zone'  ;) Also works well minus the cream, plus custard  8)

Ingredients

Ginger cake
Peaches
Double cream/custard
Alcohol (optional)
