Title: Exchange rate
Post by: DonM on February 09, 2015, 14:38:51 PM
Today we got TL3.73 to the pound sterling.  :)

We don't have a Turkish bank account but draw sterling from the HSBC. We use our Barclays debit card and there are no bank charges from either HSBC or Barclays.

We might get a slightly higher rate with a Turkish bank account but is it worth the hassle of opening an account?

I got 3.73 at the change office in Fethiye today.  :D

Before doing so, I went to pay £ cash into my Sterling account at Akbank but was told that they had closed the account due to no activity for over a year, even though I use my Lira account, pay into a pension & have a credit card from them & because I do not have at least 2 standing orders going out of the account, I pay bank charges!  >:(

Next job, open an account with another bank & transfer everything from Akbank  :(
