Went into main Turkcell shop yesterday. ( the one before PTT) on main 1 way street. To be clear this is the Turkcell shop that is like a car phone warehouse with lots of staff in uniforms. Got the whole shebang for 229 lira. Don't forget to take your passport. Don't know how long this offer will last. Look for the young blond girl, she speaks English.

Take the sim from the wifi and put it in a Turkush mobile then *159# this will give you the remaining credit

This is a link to Turkish living forums. Follow Johnys instructions. It's easy to set up and saves all the swapping of sim cards and having to set up your phone again every time you do it.

excuse me for being stupid....but this is defo the little white thingy that you can link up your mobiles, ipads, laptops etc to gain wifi anywhere at all?? I am desperately trying to find a good deal for one of these, I arrive next Thursday and want to go straight out to buy one on Friday. Please can you tell me whereabouts the ptt is? thank you....sue xx

Hi Sue. When you get off the dolmus in Fethiye,walk downhill towards the traffic lights (The blue mosque is on your left as you walk down. At traffic lights turn left, you are now walking along the main 1 way street into town centre. About 150 yds down on the right hand side of road you will see several Turkcell shops. Go into the one that is like a proper phone shop where there are payment desks and the staff all have uniforms on. The PTT is further on on same side of road and is further on than the Turkcell shop, so if you reach the PTT you have gone to far. Happy Hunting.

I got one10 days ago although there does seem to be a shortage of VINN devices in Fethiye now and the only one I could find was the Turkcell nearest to the PTT.

I have just bought a turkcell Vinn wifi but having trouble setting up.

Karennina, i is normally pretty straight forward setting up password etc. if you are struggling, go into Turkcell shop and they will do it for you.

Try resetting it I was asked for a computer password at first, but after resetting it just needed the wifi password which should be on the SIM topup card

karen are you trying to set up the password using the internet? type in the browser 192.168.1.1 the password is admin, and the user name is the same, could be Admin, off the top of my head I can't remember. once in you can change the password.
I did look at a 2nd hand MiFi in the UK on 3network to see if it would work in Turkey, now you have one I guess I will not need it now.

Its all sorted now thanks only took me five very frustrating hours to find the Wifi key with the.help of a magnifying glass and my very strong glasses..that was Mrkarennina asking on my behalf as I had no internet at the time! thank you very much Loz for looking in the end I could not stand being without the net my son was coming him from Iceland yesterday and it was so annoying not being able to check his flight and stuff so today out came my credit card...i paid more then the member who posted the start of tge thread but hey ho dezperste measures!

Does anyone know if you can log onto a website to check how much data you have left (and where to find your password etc if so)

Have a look at What Loz posted above, once in the site you can check your usage, you can also send a message from within the site and they will reply with how much data you have left.

A couple of questions re the Vinn wifi gadget please!
I went into a Turkcell shop yesterday to do my first top up since buying in August, i paid the money the chap gave me a receipt with a number on which he highlighted for me do i have to do something with the no or will my top up just go on, i gave him my sim card, they did not speak hardly any English in the shop, i wanted to ask if its 6 or 9 months you get before it becomes inactive, some folk say its 6 some say 9.

I bought one on Friday but it cost me 270 lira for the sim, gadget and 10gb. They advised me that my sim will stay valid for 6 months, i.e until April 16th 2016. Just wondering, as I have brought mine home to uk now until I return in April, is there anyway you can use the gadget with a UK sim???? Will it matter if the gadget stays uncharged until April, and what is the minimum top up I would need to buy on my return ? thanks for any advice.

Gosh i keep getting told conflicting advice! Went into Turkcell in Gunlakbasi this afternoon both chaps spoke English, what i was told was i think! If i buy the 10 gb packet for 45 tl then it will stay active fir 6 months but i will lose the allowance,if you only top up like i did yesterdsy 12 tl thinking thiis will keep it live until April but that is no good it has to be the 45 tl top up...as a new sim card is the same price i will just buy a new sim card in April.
Its a bit of a pain and seems a bit stupid when i already have a sim card he laughed and said this is Turkey! ;)

We use the Turkcell shop in the one way street in Fethiye, we bought our Turkish mobile from them and we get top ups there. The lady in the shop speaks really good English.

Sue Mac, I use my Turkcel Vinn in the UK, I use 3G Store, no need to unlock, I purchased the sim and now purchased Gb online when I need it. I used to pay for Gb in Turkey through my Garanti account.
I celetaped the Vinn mobile number inside the back cover of the gadget, when I want to top up in Turkey I take the Vinn to any shop show them the number, tell them how many Gb I want, I get a receipt with the amount paid. when I get on line and check the messages in the account I get confirmation there too.

The Turkcell shop outlets must be doing well from this as the devices are only 135tl to order online. So a 142tl for a SIM and 10GB that you require to complete this package seems a little steep!! But I suppose the benefit of buying it all together in one stop has its advantage, but also higher price!! ;)
