Turkish mobiles are cheap.  We have one it is very handy to use for local calls.  Businesses do not like ringing British Mobiles, it costs them too much money.

Get your UK mobile unlocked before you go to Turkey and then get a contract or PAYG SIM.

Thanks everyone. I read on another forum that only Turkish people could have a mobile contract- thought it was odd  :-\ Any ideas on monthly contract costs ?

Turkcell, Avea and Vodaphone all have web sites, you'll find details of contracts and promotions on all of them.  You'll need to register your UK handset else it'll end up blocked - use the search facility as its been covered on a few occasions.
