Post by: BernieTeyze on May 05, 2017, 22:34:52 PM
Is there A nice Turkish version of kiora or Robinson's lemon or orange . I've gone right off fizzy drinks
Summer is on the horizon and I get fed up of just water.
Thanks x

Not really anything in the main supermarkets, but sometimes the little corner shops sell Robinsons.  The market shop opp Cafe Pazaar had it last year. There is a shop which sells brooms and cleaning stuff next to Aydin Pide, they sell lime cordial.

Bernie, I used to make this myself as my daughter was very allergic to some E numbers. I remember that a lot of citric acid was involved along with copious amounts of sugar, but it really was delicious. With all the fruit you have there you could make some fabulous varieties. Cannot remember the actual recipe, it was 35 years ago, but I am sure there will be something on Google. For me to have taken the trouble to make it, it couldn't have been too onerous!   :)

A101 used to sell a Peach and a Cherry cordial.
It was always always hit and miss - so we would buy a couple of each when it was in stock.
Not sure if they still sell it - it always amazed me that a product that sold out quickly - was never given much shelf space (we often found one bottle wide stocking with 3 or 4 bottles behind).

My hubby said there is one they call 'oralet' which is nice and similar.  If you ask for that in the shops they should know it.

Sorry, can't remember but the bottle was just the same size / shape as the robinsons type cordial you buy in the uk. It really was hit and miss and strangely more available in the winter than the summer over a five year period. It was also a little more syrup-ee than watery - but very nice - Ian

You can also try the powder, I normally mix up a bottle with lemon and leave it in the fridge.

There is the below in kipa but it's a bit weaker then squash in the UK, for lemon I'm using pinar  saray limonatasi (from local shop/market) as it's a bit stronger.

A101 keep orange, cherry and peach cordial (very syrupy don't use too much)
It's a bit like the stuff served from hotel breakfast coolers.
