Title: Nigel Slater Middle East

I watched Nigel Slater's Middle East programme on BBC 2 last Friday. He was traveling round Turkey sampling the cuisine. He started off in Istanbul then went to the Anatolian region, Cappadocia then on to Trabzon and ended up at a place on the black sea. The selection of food was wide and varied and everywhere he went he was welcomed with open arms.  A restaurant he visited in Istanbul was the old Turkish kitchen type with the food on display for all to see. It reminded me very much of the Turkuaz Restaurant in Gunlukbasi that we visited last year. We went there twice for lunch and will visit more often this year.The food was of good quality and was a good price.I would recommend to CBF members to give it a try. Will be in Calis in ten weeks, cant come quick enough.

There's a thread already running about this Ally. It's a 3 part series. 1st was Lebanon. The 2nd Turkey and the 3rd will be about Iran.

It's definitely on BBC iPlayer. That's how I watched it.

Really enjoyed this programme and some fascinating food and information on certain areas brought up. Wee worth a watch.

I have just seen this on bbc 2  today [ sat ]  it was excellent so many issues I always wanted to know about .
what a hard but wonderfull life away from the rat race

Enjoyed thr last programme (Iran) but apart from the last dish featured I wouldn't give a thank you for any of the food.....

Did he say petrol in Iran is 20p a litre?The breakfast of bread cooked in an oven on stones that you have to sometimes pick out and a sheep's head did not really appeal to me!

They said the sheep's eyes are inedible. Rubbish!

I always got the butcher to leave the eyes in to see me through the week.
