I still remember his fantastic headed goal for Scotland v Wales in a World Cup qualifier at Anfield in 1977 to send us to Argentina.  I was one of the ones (along with most of the rest of the Scottish nation) caught up in the frenzy, and believed Scotland were going to win the World Cup the following year - oops!

It’s the charitable workandthings he’s done outwith the gaze of the press that gained him this honour and he has always remained down to earth and real. Congratulations SIR.

Aye, true. Apart from the MVO (Royal Victorian Order) the're all "politically" recommended and awarded.

For the MVO the Royal Family choose who they want.
