Brain Teasers (4)
« on: December 28, 2006, 21:02:45 PM »
OK I've left you all alone long enough - here are yet more brainteasers

(Sorry Scunner !)

Once again, the number at the end of the question indicates its alleged degree of difficulty out of a hundred. The lower the number the harder it's meant to be.

When the teaser is solved I'll post the answer in red next to the question so you need not torture yourselves too much

Here we go:

Q1. My first (syllable) is nothing but a name
    My second is more small
My whole (word) is of so little fame
    It has no name

    What is the word ?

    9

Q2. Can a citizen of Turkey but living and working in Egypt be
legally buried in his homeland of Turkey ?

26No - he or she must die first -  Crabbit

Q3. Many keys are used to open
All the charms that I possess
    Human hands reveal what's written
    Human ears will note finesses

    What am I ?

    9 A piano - Amca

Q4. Arrange three nines in a mathematical equation (use any
mathematical symbols necessary except other numbers) so that the result is 20.

89+9/.9=20 - Scunner (with partial apologies to Amca)

Q5. I'm pointed in one direction
    And headed in another
    When you drive me home
    My purpose you'll discover

    What am I ?

    4 A nail - Crabbit

Q6. Not what I was, what I am is the key
To make "toast of the town" people often need me
Said before "up" means to praise or flatter
Cream comes to the top is the truth of the matter

    What am I

    20 Butter - Crabbit

Q7. The black interior of its long slender body
Is the functional part of its being

    What is it ?

    22A pencil - Amca (he's catching up Crabbit !!)

Q8. Obese personification fabricated of
    compressed mounds of minute crystals

11 Frosty the Snowman - Crabbit

Q9. What you say will put words in my mouth
But everyone doubts what I say is the truth
My freedom denied, but still I can thrive
My colourful image - you'll keep me alive

    What am I ?

    20[red}A parrot - Amca

Q10. Houdini once claimed he could take an unused 5p, place it in the middle of the table and ithout physically touching it or moving it in any way with any object, he could place another 5p under the first

How was it done ?

18 he put the 5p under the table - Crabbit

Crabbit - I didn't say the p referred to pence - you did

AND FINALLY ONE REAL STINKER

Q11. It is a well known fact that King George the 11 of England went to sleep one night on 2nd September and he did not waken until 14th September. His sleep was uninterrupted.King Henry 111 of France once went to bed on 9th December and did not waken until the 20th of the same month. A king's job is not really that tiresome so how can we explain these excessively long sleeps.

4Point must go to Amca According to answer on card England (presumably the bandits mean the UK) lost 12 days in 1752 and France lost 11 days in 1582. Makes you wonder where the other day went. Perhaps its the day in - "The other day" I was walking down the road when.............

GOOD LUCK [/red]
