A couple of ideas for new threads which I thought I'd run up the flag pole....
1. Member's diaries: Members jot down one or two things (no more unless special circumstances) that happen to them on each day during the week. They can be sad, funny, important, frivolous - it doesn't really matter. Then they post the events of their week on a Sunday for example.
and/or
2. The News Where You Are: Following on from the "And This Is Where I Live" thread, members would post stories which are making the news in their area. These would not be local reactions to national news - but purely local newsworthy items. As with the diaries they could be sad, funny, important, frivolous. It might be interesting to see who different or more importantly how similar the stories are.

PS The local Aberdeen newspaper The Press and Journal is famous for it's understatement. It's rumoured that their headline "NOTH EAST MAN DIES IN BOATING ACCIDENT" was actually a report on the sinking of the Titanic.
