American tragedy
« on: April 17, 2007, 08:33:33 AM »
Yet again we are being informed in the media of a mass killing in a American college. Yet again, many young people have been killed by firearms. While many Americans claim their 'Constitutional Right' to 'keep and bear arms', I would take issue with that 'right'. The second amendment to the Constitution states - 'A well regulated militia, being necessary for the security of a free state, the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed'. My argument is that as the U.S.A has very well armed and organised police forces and Armed Forces, the requirement for a 'well regulated militia' is now unnecessary so the second amendmement is now invalid.
Blessings to those who died and comfort to their loved ones
Pete
