Brilliant. Thanks very much. I am sure that this will be very helpful to people on here. Thanks Brian for the info in the first instance. Cef. just shows sometimes we can be wrong but is it surprising that we are cynical? Anne xx

Went in yesterday to have my new mobile registered but they are having a problem with the stamp!! I am going back on Friday. Being cynical comes with age and living in England too long Brian. Not just living here. I have never been as relaxed. xx

They did not look at my visa stamps....just took a photo copy of the mugshot page and as I mentioned did ask for the residents visa.
If it is a question of "reading" a visa stamp does Barrie have a better one in his passport?  It doesn't really matter whose name it is in once it is registered. :)

It is "their" stamp that was the problem. We have to go back Friday. If I hadn't got the phone free then I wouldn't be bothering. U know us Yorkshire folk. Anne x
