Beach traders in Olu
« on: July 23, 2009, 22:20:37 PM »
Is anyone else getting extremely irritated by the ever growing numbers of turks ( individuals and groups ) constantly, and I mean constantly, parading by all the sunlounge people calling out  "  cold drinks, beers, soft drinks etc "  They are really `in your face` now there on the main beach. I counted 12 of them at least doing the rounds at one point in time, it seemed that all the unemployed  in Olu were attempting it, over only about a 100 metre stretch of beach !! I think the mayor or someone  needs to be informed, its got ridiculous, also several others, like me were p****d off with them, as soon as one passed  you... a few seconds later another one, or group comes a long and so the  cycle continued.  Next time we go to the beach its going to be the lagoon end for us. The irony of it was , the shops selling the cold drinks were only a few metres away from the beach, but these beach guys couldnt work out why no one on the beach was buying ??

Sleuth and Puma, what would you do if you were 'unemployed' would you try to earn a little money/make a living somehow(possibly by selling drinks etc.on the beach)or would you sit at home and hope the turkish gov. sends you some money.

Easy follow the road down to Olu Deniz beach but before you go through the turnstiles bear right and go up there a few hundred yards and its the first one you come to, excellent chill out place with good food, entertainment, and not expensive. 8)

Some of these sellers are actually from the bars along the beach, what made me laugh was the really old fella selling the viagra(not really) sweets, agree with Puma, its a bit much being woken up to buy something, oh and one of the bars do a free shuttle to Sugar Beach, its on here somewhere.

I think you will find sugar beach do their own shuttle but not to far to walk from the dolmus or they have their own free car park if you are driving.
