Old £20 notes
« on: January 20, 2011, 08:03:28 AM »
A couple of months ago I exchanged lira for sterling (quite a large pile).
When I went to use them in Tesco's they were old notes which are no longer accepted.  Hopefully the bank will take them.
This was from the exchange offices near the banks so, if changing money, check each note ;)
They need to have the 'silver' strip all the way down the note

This happened to our friend last year. The old notes were neatly stored in between all the newer 20pound notes. That money came from a bank as well. When he got to England he had to go to Lloyds Bank to get them changed.
