How safe are holiday homes in Uzumlu
« on: May 14, 2015, 11:55:13 AM »
Can anyone advise on the safety of properties left unattended in Uzumlu.

We are potentially going to buy and use ours as a holiday home for a couple of years before retirement so just wondering whether anyone has experienced homes being broken into.

Many thanks
    :)

The thieves generally tend to go for smaller items such as cameras, phones, jewelry , cash etc. so would be less likely to target unoccupied properties. That said bars and an alarm system wouldn't hurt.

I know for several seasons running there were a lot of burglaries in Uzumlu and indeed Calis,I most certainly would have security bars , the burglaries tend to be more when you are on holiday then when the property is empty as there will be nothing to steal!
By the way are you the couple my hubby met on the transfer bus and then we met on the return transfer ?if so good luck in what you decide to do Yoshi...
This forum is brilliant for all the info you need whilst making your decision!  :)

You don't seem to hear so much about it these days so maybe the chance is lower - but you can't avoid the fsct that it was rife for a year or two, unless I am confused and all those CBF topics didn't happen.

The problem is, as soon as the tourst season starts, so do the break-in's.  A lot of tourists in holiday mode forget about simple things like locking doors and windows.
We had our warning today by our Maintenance Company, who know what they are talking about.

Thank you everyone for all your advise.

Yes Karennina we are, it was so nice to meet you both, you and your husband were so helpful and offered us a lot of advise. If we proceed with the sale we will come to Calis and buy you a beer or two.

Honey bee I assume you use your place as a holiday home so can you advise me how you get from Dalaman airport to Uzumlu.

Ah I wondered if it was you Yoshi, glad you joined the forum it is a wealth of information and I have met some lovely people thru it over the years..it was lovely to meet you both too...
All the best with your research, so many people on here swear by a chap called Cenk to buy through, I forget if he works for an estate agent, he may be able to find you a similar property to what you have seen,if you put his name into the search on here I'm sure it will show you how well he is thought of...
Look forward to thst beer  ;)
