I did wonder - that's why I asked the question. But then why would Bernie ask what the rate in Turkey was at the moment.?

Steady H, don't be unhelpful! Without wishing to provoke you into yet another money-raising venture I wonder what CBFers would gamble. Lira over 5 or under 4 by next June?

Don't give him ideas... He is already struggling to sell the last few numbers on the Advent Calendar which closes this evening.

Until Monday when I left Fethiye the rate was consistently 4.30 from the man in the shop near Burger King on Ataturk Caddesi. This is dependant on the amount you exchange.
Calis was offering much lower rates.

Oh Dear,  Did he have sandy colour hair and glasses and had a little Estate Agency?  I think you did what we all warn against on this Forum, you dealt with Colin.
Better check he gave you 4.30 and not 4.3.10.

The reason I was asking is because the hotel I am staying at gave me the choice of paying turkish lira or £. I was quoted 200 lira a night for a lovely sea view apartment with  air con and small kitchenette with fridgeand including breakfast. I wasnt sure if it was worth paying £ or lira. Thank you for the replies.

No Jackie it was not an estate agency and I always check the rate and calculation myself before I exchange funds. We definitely got 4.30.

Colin has had a number of businesses, A clothes shop and Estate Agency.  He is the only one near the Burger Bar who exchanges money.  He is a crook who does his best to cheat people and he is very good at it.  There have been many people on this Forum who he has duped.   The regulars here always warn people not to use him.
He says he can beat the exchange offices, he does this by deception.   Nichola from the Mozaik Bahce took a picture of him and it was on this Forum with a warning.

Thanks I appreciate the warning and it sounds like it could be the same man but as I said I always check the calculation and funds handed to me before I part with my money.
Like a lot of CBRs I've been coming to Turkey far too long to accept what these individuals promise.
