Our House Insurance Company "Policy Expert" has changed it's terms and conditions.  The rules now state that you must turn off your water at the stop cock if you are going away from the house for more than 14 days.  This is even if you have someone coming in to check the house out.
So, to anyone who has a policy from them, best to be aware of this.  Phil read it in the terms and conditions when our renewal arrived today.
Wondering is it worth shopping around?   :-\

I remember my Dad's Prudential Household policy had that as one of it's conditions over 40 years ago.

Same with my dad's Liverpool Victoria policy. The guy arrived every Thursday evening for all of my life there.

When we cleared our parent's things, my brother, sister and I found penny policies in our names. Not sure what the cover was, but certainly gave us a feeling of security to know that we were covered!   :)

My son who is a Plumber calls up every day when we are away. My D.I.L  also uses our fields for her horses, so needs to use the water. She also waters my plants. Also, the policy used to say it was O.K. To leave the place for 28 days, now it has changed. There was never a mention before about turning off the water.
Would be interesting to know just how many people turn off their water before they go on holiday.

Patrice, better check your House Insurance before you take your next holiday.
Forgot to say, if you have gas (we don't) you have to turn that off too.
