Hiring a car
« on: May 17, 2017, 15:21:59 PM »
New rules now.  Have to show a passport, which is photographed to send to the Police.  If you are hiring from the Airport,  Passport has to be photographed and set to the Hirers Office, who then have to send it to the Police, no mater what time of day.  So, someone at the airport, has to have someone in the office at times of hiring to send details to police.  At the moment, cannot be sent directly.
If you hire from Calis/Fethiye etc.,  photograph of passport is taken with the hire agreement and then sent to Police.  No one is taking any chances, possible a good idea, to stop terrorists hiring cars.

As our guy told us, rules are being made all the time.
Also, new rule for our Villa WIFI.  Our company needed a copy of my passport, which was sent to them, but I had to sign a new agreement with all my passport details on it.  Guy came over yesterday, with the contract and said it was another new rule.
Turkish Government are keeping a check on people hiring cars and WIFI now. I suppose another move to stop terrorists.

We have a car from Pegasus at the moment and never had to show our passport. Maybe it's something to come in future.

Maybe Fethiye Lovers are following correct procedure.  No problem for us, glad to know the local Police have our details, so no worry free  in the next few weeks.
We have total confidence in this company, no reason for them to make extra work for themselves, if they do not need to.
I would check back with Pegasus if I were you.

Do you have a photo licence or an old paper one? That could make a difference.

We both have plastic licenses and have used Fethiye Lovers for 8 years a few times per year. First time for this new rule.  F.F. Owner came to our place with the car and photographed our Passport to send to the local Police.  He said it is a real hassle, but a new rule and he has to adhere to it.
