Title: XMBC sky sports help please
Post by: hamilton on June 19, 2013, 08:20:29 AM
I have recently downloaded XMBChub & NAVI-X, I have also added Sports Devil to my mini pc (MK808). I have a vast amount of good quality programmes, but I am still having problems with Sky Sports. Does anyone know if its being blocked, or if there is a fix. I have tried 'cricfree' which is not that good. Is there any other site streaming in good quality Sky Sports on the android network.
If anyone knows could they please PM me.

Have you downloaded all the Sports Devil apps? Cricfree is on there with lots of others as well.

It's pretty much a case of trial and error. Sometimes it depends who is broadcasting and other times how busy the server is. I'm just trying a few as we speak and will let you know how I get on.

There is an Xmbc forum somewhere. I'll try and get you the link. Maybe they can help.

Thanks for reply. I have downloaded sports devil apps (7 in total) none of the sky sports programmes seem to work, either through xmbc or navi-x, every thing else seems to work very well. The problem is that there are 1,000's of apps to trawl through and select into favourites, mind boggling. I am getting there slowly.
Are you using an android device?
Thanks again.

go here    http://purecast.tv/  and register , they have an app for xbmc and android devices,  all sky sports and AD sports coming at start of footie season. you can sign up for 24 hours, 1 week, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year,  quote this REF no:   trial325  when registering, very good stable streams+ lots more channels on the app, Sky Movies BBC, ITV etc....

So simple... just subscribe to `view tv abroad` for £6 per month  out here.. then a further £13  per month for the `SKY GO` package...  you will be pleasantly surprised by the quality if you have a top speed internet connection as we have... I watched lots of football last winter/spring on it.. picture quality perfect most times.. the only negative is KO  times 10pm out here  : :)

Post by: stevemelda on June 23, 2013, 16:28:05 PM
£6 X 12 =£72 then 12 X £13 = £156   total = £228.

Purecast.tv is £49.99 for the whole year   big difference!!!

According to the blurb on xbmchub.com it will work with Apple TV 1,2 and 3 but it looks as though there's a lot of faffing about to get it working and in my experience chance of success = luck divided by faff time.   :)

On navi-x there is a streaming channel called 'hammy 35' all the UK channels and many more including all 'sky' including  sports available. This is an absolutely freel, picture quality variable but watchable.

Is anyone else having trouble getting the Sky Sports channels via Offsidestreams / XBMC? Everything was working fine until about two weeks ago but now I'm getting "Script Error" every time I try to connect to one of the Sky Sports channels. Others channels  are working ok but not SP1, SP2, SP3 or SP4, which just happen to be the only ones I'm interested in  :-[)

Is there another add-on I can use to get access?

just updated Offisidestrams to the latest version (2.2.9) in the hope that it would solve my problems but now all channels are gving me "script error". I expected progress but not backwards  :-\

Offside streams is no longer on xbmc. They had a problem with some if the providers trying to put adverts on so they banned them. OSS also had problems with their payment collector and had to get everyone to sign up again.

I think you might still get it if you use a PC and go directly to OSS site but not through xbmc.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the update Stoop.  Their "Match Replays" seems to be still working - I watched the Sunderland ManU game last night so I might keep it enabled just for that. Like you I paid £3.99 for the first month's access but I can't remember if this was one of those "continual until cancelled" arrangements or not. Do you know if that's the case or was it a payment that you had to remember to make each month?

Away at the moment but once I get home I'm going to re-install xbmc as they have had a major overall. Have you received the email from them? If not I'll try and post it later when I get more Internet time. Shopping now:(

Try this. Not sure if it will help with Offsidestreams though - might even delete it for good. Or join the xbmc hub forum and try to find out if Mikey1234 is going to add it back again.

Some misleading info getting given out here

Firstly if your after OSS its not on Xbmchub, you need to change over to Xbmc chat- best to log onto and sign up for their forum.

OSS is not operated by Mickey he just  created the add on.

Its operated by CDNSPRINGS.COM, and is £ 4.99 a month ( though you could pay around 20p more as its priced in US dollars and some ccs charge conversion)

Can thoroughly recommend it BUT a decent download speed is definitely needed. Oss has all Sky plus Bt Sports, Espn as well as all Al Jaz Sport, Bein Sport, Fox Sport Nbc Sport etc giving you all usual fball plus a choice of around 5 live 3 pm games on a Sat
Title: Re: XMBC sky sports help please
Post by: stoop on October 11, 2013, 10:06:56 AM
Yes but without Mikey's add on it won't work on Apple TV. Unless someone else has added one?

Price went up after they had major problems with their card collection service. In short they found out they were collecting money for an illegal service and everyone had to re-register. Some got money back and others, like me, didn't.

I'm I'm letting the dust settle before I look at OSS again.

XBMC is a great media tool but is not without its problems.

Can someone enlighten me please ?   We were told bt a friend to watch a video clip of an  MX2 ANDROID TV BOX XMBC  ... It all looks so impressive and the box cheap to buy, but it all seems to good to be true ?
Looking on e bay there are 5 / 6 similar  boxes (xmbc)  all priced between £50  to £90 ish pounds.
All professing to give you access to hundreds of tv channels with perfect  picture quality etc

I  would like to purchase one on the strength of what I  have watched and read about them and take it to Turkey, but you know the saying and it worries me   " if it sounds too good to be true  it usually is "

Some of you guys on here seem to know quite a bit about these latest `tv gadgets` and I  would appreciate comments and advice please.
At the moment we subscribe to UK TV ABROAD   which for £6 per month and  80% of the time decent picture quality is good value.
But if there`s something better out there I am willing to try.
Any advice please ?

Had one for about 6 months,my experience is that the android boxes do not Wi-Fi very well they need to be hard wired to the router Apple tv 2 unteathered jailbroken wi fi great but are expensive you need at least 3meg download speed to work all the devices and although some of the stuff on the devices does not work loads of it does.Never looked back use it in the UK for all the latest films tv series live sports uk tv and sky however you need to search a little for sky tv programmes. When I go to Turkey I just unplug it and take it with me.My android device is a G-Box Midnight The devices should come fully loaded with all the apps got mine off e-bay .Hope this helps and makes sense. My IT  knowledge is a little limited Oh and they update themselves The more you play with them the more things you find.

I have a mini pc for about a year now.

There are loads on ebay and amazon, different makes, but the chips are the same. I believe that there are only 2 different chips the RK3066 (dual core) and the RK3166 (quad core). If they are not loaded with xbmc its easy to do. Recently xbmc have posted an idiots guide on the net of there latest update, that even I could follow.

There is a learning curve with these devices and there not absolutely perfect, but they do the job, and once you have paid your £60 or so, all steaming is absolutely free. They are also 'google play' compatible, that allows you to down load 1,000's of aps as well as Filmon, BBci player etc.

Through xbmc you can download 1channel, icefilms, navi-x etc. Basically you can watch live or stream in virtually every film or TV programme that's ever been made (most of the time). They are not perfect, have to be re-booted at times and take some getting used to, but on the whole well worth the £60.

I have a Trosmart MK 908 (RK3166 quad core) comes fully loaded with xbmc and loads more.

Gary Goody is installing similar devices, and I believe he is loading them up with all the aps that each individual requires.

Thanks Hamilton for your comments

Billy ?  if we buy one ( same as yours )  we are not technically minded.. can we  /  do we just literally plug it in and away we go ?
also is there any or much downloading to be done ?

Basically our main interests on tv are    BBC 1 BBC 2  ITV  ITV PLAYER  BBC I PLAYER  and for me ANY FOOTBALL CHANNELS   like sky sports 1 / 2     BT  football   the new one.. and Al jazeera   channels for saturday football   .

Movies would be nice.. but not important ...  we can get the latest ones at  ten for a tenner when we are in turkey :-)

Any answers would be greatly appreciated from   Billy or Hamilton  :-)

You have to set it up with your internet address, as you would any computer. To get BBCi player you have to have a VPN, the same goes for 'catchup'

I find that BBCi player buffers more than 'filmon', 'notfilmon' is even better

If you want to stream through 'filmon' or navi-x you can get live UK channels, there are many other ways as well without a VPN.

Sky sports is a bit unreliable, but is improving.

Probably the best thing you could do to get the hang of it all would be to load xbmc onto your laptop first and have a play with it. Or if you wanted you could use your lap top on its own, or connect it to the TV using a hdmi cable. The xbmc set up is on the net as I have said before. That way you will know if this is really what you want without spending any money.

My G Box midnight came fully loaded I don't use BBC I player but I just plugged the box in connected it to the internet HDMI cable to the TV and it was ready to go film on and ex pat TV for English bbc itv etc and free view channels sports devil app for live football mash up ice films and 1channel for films and TV series. The more I played with it the more I found.Have a look at the g box midnight on you tube it will explain everything

and once you've got XBMC installed on your laptop then just take your laptop to Turkey. As Hamilton advises, you can run XBMC from the laptop or connect it to your TV with a HDMI cable and you've still got the laptop for emails, web surfing, games, music or whatever you want and you haven't had to spend £60 - £100.   ;)

Thank you Billy, Hamilton, and Steve for your advice and comments ( printed off )  for now though we might for the moment just `sit on the fence` and see how it all develops with XMBC etc ..........as I mentioned we subscribe to `view uk tv abroad` for £6 per month.... works out for the seven months we are in Turkey  at £42 ... with generally with little buffering and often no buffering
Also occasionally ( for football ) I  subscribe through `view uk tv abroad` for `sky go`...  they charge £13  per month and I  must say again that generally the picture quality is watchable

It all comes down to picture quality for us .. and if XMBC  is through the internet, then the picture quality is not going to be any better than our current set up....if it was  proved better and more consistent then we would go for it

In fairness... we are really not interested in hundreds of channels  :-) just BBC 1  BBC I player  ITV   and ITV player, channel 4 , 4OD, and  sky go occasionally when I  dont feel like watching footie at the local bars

thanks again for replying everyone

Just to add my two penneth.
Don't know if this works on android, but it certainly works on the laptop with a good connection speed.

1 Go to wiziwig website.
2 On software section download ACESTREAM programme ( it's quite a large file, takes about 15 mins to download.
3 Install said programme on computer.
4 Go on wiziwig site once more and choose the sport and match you want to watch. Choose the ACESTREAM link to watch it.

Picture quality is perfect, even if sometimes you have to have Russian commentary. If you have buffering problems, go to forums and it tells you how to stop it by opening up a port on your router.

Give it a go you'll be more than happy you did.    ;)
