Title: R.I.P. Fiesta Hotel
Post by: Ally B on June 01, 2018, 15:44:40 PM
It really saddened me when going past what was the old Fiesta hotel. It was a place where my family spent many a lovely holiday. When you arrived it was like home from home when greeted by owner Ali Kislak, who is one of the nicest people I have met in Turkey. The front of the building has been demolished and the side is now a Bim supermarket. The rear looks like is going to be apartments.Such a shame. "Still I have the memories"I am  Sure anyone who has stayed there would agree with me.

Should mention it had been a dialysis centre for a few years but last year it was called the Indigo hotel.

we went there as part of a party of about 16-20 in 1996; he was indeed a lovely guy. On the main street down to the beach there were very few restaurants but one that stuck out had a puller-in who was the spit of Bobby Ball; he didn't seem to know what all the fuss was about poor guy.
Calis was so different in those days but still we go back, it has a quiet charm that makes you want more and more. This time next week we'll be settled in again for another great chill-out holiday.

We stayed at Fiesta for 3 years running from 2002 onwards before Ali sold up to the Dialysis people, we had great times there.  As you said, Ali was a great guy, if a tad eccentric.  Last I heard of Ali, he was running a Kibbutz type farm near Fethiye where you could stay for free if you worked the land!
Been going back most years, staying at Oykun these days.  We always wander up past the old Fiesta, and have witnessed it’s sad decline over recent years.
We will no doubt have a look what has become of the site when we’re in Calis later this month

Don't remember it at all despite going there for last 16 years!  : :)

I know where the Indigo Hotel was but never knew it as the Fiesta hotel...so is the Bim up the side street where hotel was or on BM?

It is on BM built on the site that was the roadside part of Fiesta. The rear of Fiesta looks to be houses with their own pools.
