hi,we recently transferred money into a turkish bank account,we paid £31 at hsbc for the transfer,we were then charged £141 from the turkish bank.Is this what usually happens ,it seems unfair to have to pay two lots of bank transfer fees.I would appreciate it if anyone has a bit of information on the best and cheapest way to transfer money over, thanks, joanne

If you have transfered from a HSBC account in the UK to a HSBC account in Turkey it should have cost you no more than £15.

That was a "Swift" transfer for a sum over £10,000 and yes both banks will charge.

To tansfer funds to Turkey my UK bank charges me £12.50 to send it and the ING Bank in Fethiye charge me £22.50 to receive it. And I thought I was being ripped off!
