Chasing higher interest means that you are actually taking more risk.I am no expert on Turkish banks but they had little or no exposure to the problems in America. The financial press do not seem to be concerned with Greek banks and the question is now whether the Greek government can pay its sovereign debt and whether they have cut enough off the public expenditure budget.

Hi Gerry, I remember Turkish banks all saying we are cash rich so no problem here after the big credit crunch. But when you look around Turkey now you see thousands of new cars and house renovations and indeed new property purchases shaping the future. If a lot of this is on credit how does that auger for the coming years?
Anyway are any CBF members still banking confidentaly with FinansBank and whats the most up to date feeling on this?

At the moment I cannot afford to live in the UK.  If  Finans goes under and I lose what I have , I shall be able to return to the UK and be provided for by the state  :)

I know many of us are concerned about Finansbank - although they are very profitable in their own right.

What I am interested to know too is what happens to all those big banks in Europe like Ing and Fortis etc etc if Greece, Portugal, Ireland and Spain all go down the pan.

Blimey Nichola, you have money in all those banks then? LOL
Do we think HSBC bank would be safer than Finans I wonder. Where are the experts on CBF?
