Sirince...?

Thinking about a trip to Ephesus again - we love it out of season.  Probably with an over night stay....has anyone been to Sirince ? is it worth the visit and would it be a nice place to bed down for the night ?  (I'm particular attracted by the fact that they seem to produce some decent wine there..... ;))

I spent an hour in Sirince this last Autumn. We bought some OK wine at not too punishing a price. Apart from that it was a big disappointment. I was told it would be "a quaint, authentic old Greek wine village". I found it to be about 25 wine shops and countless dozens of tacky souvenir stalls. Hilary thought my reaction was OTT, and that it could be read from my face. She put this down to my antipathy to shopping; but I doubt that even she would want to stay there overnight.

Actually we went there in October and stayed overnight and found it great. The tourists all go home once the sun goes down and it's very quiet. We stayed in a renovated greek house, which was amazing. We had an evening meal out and took a load of local wine back, to sit on our porch and drink, while enjoying the views. Well recommended! ;)
One word of warning, there does not seem to be anything in the way of cheap overnight accomodation, not that we found anyway, so expect to pay top prices unless you book ahead.

So there you are then, Pookie. One silly response (sorry Tinx meant "banter"); and two from people who have been there but give contradictory reports. The sort of thing you expect from CBF and why I, for one, keep coming back to it.

Personally I think Sirnce is well worth a visit, out of season
preferably, the fruit wines are particularly good.
I would prefer to stay in Selcuk apart from Ephesus on the doorstep
there are many other places of interest in the town including the
museum that houses the artefacts from Ephusus it also has a good
choice of places to stay.
