This was the opera Romeo and Juliet at the Aspendos amphitheatre.I believe that the performances are now at the new  open air theatre on land near the amphitheatre.
The costumes in this production were made in what looked like red leather and were really striking. The singers and musicians were top class.
Cushions were provided to put on the stone seating and we also had some of our own. We were allowed to take in drinks not in glass bottles and snacks.
The theatre seats about 7000 people and was built in 155.The architect was a Greek called Zenon.Originally there was a wooden roof over the stage and 58 wooden masts held an awning to protect the audience from the sun.
