During our stay in Calis in June we are travelling to Kas for a few nights.
We have sorted our hotel....Hideaway but am trying to find a site for day tours/places of interest to visit whilst there.

Anyone got any links?

Patty

You don't say whether you will have a car which may make things a little easier if you want to go out of Kas for things to do.

Just along the coast is the sunken city of Kekova which you can reach by boat from Kas (just walk along the harbour and speak to the boat captains).

Myra and Demre (famous for St Nicholas / Santa Claus) are about 40 minutes away eastwards along the D400 and can be reached quite easily by car or bus or organised tour.

You could go inland into the mountains to visit the small town of Gombe which is set in some great scenery. The ‘Green Lake' is nearby and is quite a popular destination.

There are several small tour operators in Kas which can organise trips for you if you don't want to explore on your own

A few links below which may help you plan your time. If you have any specific questions just ask and I will do what I can to answer them.

Hope you enjoy your time in Kas.

Nick, that is really helpful, I am continually amazed how helpful people are on the Forum, really well done. I will also find this information really useful myself as I plan to visit this area in June.

If you are thinking of going to Kekova by boat from Kas, there are a number that do the tour from the harbour and you can book directly with the captain. They vary a little in what is included but most will include lunch and you will get plenty of time for swimming and relaxing etc.

One boat that I have been with many times is the Batin 2 which will take up to about 12 people, the Captain is 'Garlic' Ali and does a very good job of looking after people.  (http://www.batinboat.co.uk/) (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bat%C4%B1n-2-Boat/143692512324848)

There are larger boats which carry more people and consequently prices may be a little lower but they tend to be less personal and there is less flexibilty with the route of the tours.

Be aware that boat trips from Kas are not as cheap as some of the prices I hear being quoted for trips from Fethiye, the competition is much less in Kas and the boats generally tend to be smaller than some that I have seen in Fethiye in recent years.

Alternatively you can go by road to the little town of Üçagiz from where you can hire a small boat that will take you around the archaeological sites.

If you want to go through an agent, as I mentioned earlier there are several who will be happy to help (a few websites below). I have no personal experience of them but it should be pretty easy to organise something quite quickly when you get there. As far as I am aware they all tend to do the same sort of thing for very similar prices. They may either take you by minibus to Üçagiz or use one of the bigger boats from the harbour.

There is a small tourist information office in the main square down by the harbour, it is located not far from Ataturk's statue, next to the Meydan Restaurant (quite a nice place to eat and people watch). The position of the information office is also shown on the Google map that I provided the link for in my last post.

Hope this helps

I've just done a search and jotted down several hotels in Kas. Can anyone tell me the frequency of buses from Fethiye Ottogar to Kas and their departure times[?] Planning a couple of days down there next week so any info would be more than welcome  8)

The timetable I have is for Bati Antalya, they leave the otogar in Fethiye every hour on the half hour from 07:30 - 15:30 & then 16:45 & 18:00. I don't have return times & there may be other operators doing the sahilden (long way) route to Antalya

Patty, when you go into the otogar (from the Carrefour side entrance)in Fethiye there are maybe 10 - 12 small booking offices, each owned by a different bus operator. In the window of each of the offices are large signs showing the destinations of their various buses.

You'd probably be advised to book a few days ahead & when you go to catch the bus, you simply walk through the particular office for the company with whom you are booked & if in doubt, there's usually a chap to help load luggage & he'll point you to the right bus.

As I said earlier, they may well be more than just Bati Antalya that do that route, but they were the only one I had a timetable for.
