Buy a used one from from one of the mobile shops. You shouldn't have to pay much more than 80 TL for a half decent one. Make sure you get the charger with it though.

Sorry, can't remember the names but there are a couple of shops on the back road out of Paspatur that usually have a big display of second-hand phones in their windows.

As a completely different option to consider - all Carphone Warehouse phones are supplied unlocked/sim free - I have tested this and so far 100% true. Even if they aren't, the unlocked phones start at £15.95.

Buy it
Use it in Turkey
Throw it away :D

The link that Scunner has supplied shows the exact same phone I use here in Turkey.

I paid a little more for it though here from an Avea shop. It cost me 80 Lira. Mine is on a contract though and I do not have data access on it. I wanted the simplest cheapest phone for texting and calls to people here in Turkey and in the UK.

(I hate texting on it though - it's the old '3 letters per key' type of phone) and if anyone knows how to change the ring tone or if it is possible to do so, let me know - it's too quiet.

I thought you couldn't take a UK bought mobile to Turkey and use it there. I thought the Turkish government had blocked them all?

Only if you put a Turkish sim in, and even then you get enough for a holiday - it's next time you find it won't work.

My uk mobile couldn't pick up a network when I arrived on Sunday so I had to buy a Turkish SIM for it but when Buddy arrived last night he had no problems switching to Turkcell.
