Oren to Ortakoy
« on: January 21, 2015, 14:59:44 PM »
We took the dolmus to Oren this morning - 50km, 1 hr, 5TL each.
Walked (strolled) back to Ortakoy in about 90mins - Fabulous scenery,
surrounded by snow capped mountains and barely any traffic - so peaceful.
It was market day (5 stalls !!!) and we had a coffee and a cay sat in the sun - 1.5TL !!!!
Well worth a visit.

Probably biased but we love Ortakoy. It is a traditional Turkish village with everything you could wish for and amazing scenery. Great for walks and the villagers are so kind and friendly.

You can spend every day finding new places by dolmus and it costs next to nothing.
Who needs a car ? When you are retired you have all the time in the world to explore !!!!!

Where is Ortakoy?  We love to explore new places, if you could give us information where we get dolmus to it, or what its near that would be great, we don,t mind a walk either.

Sunlover, the dolmus for Oren leaves the Otogar on the one way system (not the mosque), took about an hour to get there, with a short stop in Seydikemer. It goes all the way to Oren via Ortakoy and then we walked back to Ortakoy which took about an hour I would guess, it's flat walking, and stunningly beautiful.
While we were waiting for the dolmus back we were presented with a handful of oranges, by a lady who was busy knocking them from her trees. Just lovely!

Ortakoy is due east of Uzumlu but as Angela said, the bus travels via Seydikemer (Kemer).

Thx, sounds great... We will look at doing this trip in May... They are so helpful at Otogar,  we always seem to turn up just after the bus has left though, and then have another hour or so wait!!! Will have to try and get times a few days before..

Could we get the bus from Gunlukbashi area, does it go that way, as easier for us to walk to there , tahn get to Fethiye, thats if it does and stops there.

From the MAIN otogar the dolmus takes the Calica road not the Gunlukbasi road so the main otogar crossroads is your nearest pick up point.
