ATOL protected with monarch.....or not?
« on: July 02, 2015, 22:58:25 PM »
I thought I may have just had bargain flights for whitsun 2016 (school hols aprox £750 for 5 of us with luggage) with monarch, only now I'm having a slight case of the jitters as I have just realised I didnt read that it was ATOL protected. We use them most years 2 or 3 times and have always received an ATOL certificate, because of this I paid by debit card without a second thought.
Having search the web site and a heated debate with hubby who said it would of been in the box you tick for  reading the terms and conditions I have gone back through the booking again and all it says is some holidays and flights are covered and some are not, and we must contact monarch to see if the flight is covered ( just feel like I have been conned good and proper as I would of paid by credit card if it wasnt covered!!!).

monarch do have financial problems so it looks like I will have to do some finger crossing has anyone else encountered this if not then please be aware.
I will be E-mailing asap to see if covered.

Well I thought so to KKOB, but looking at that its dated Nov14 so could they of withdrawn this benefit without informing customers. The reason I say this, as we have only recently booked our flights for this August (hubby dropped this booboo) and have realised we havent had a certificate for these flights either.

I also booked flights with Thomas Cook yesterday and did note that it stated if I paid by PayPal, ATOL protection did NOT apply. No idea what cover PayPal provide?

Panic over, the ATOL certificate has arrived over night as a pdf (maybe it wasn't showing on my phone) anyway I have them both now for this Aug and my bargain flights for next may school hols. The prices are going up though already.

Indeed KKOB, but it still has to be said that their wording of ATOL protection says that some flights are protected, which I think we can take from that not all flights are, so how would the customer know if it is or isn't covered unless you call before booking.
