The Matisse Restaurant.
« on: May 30, 2016, 09:15:01 AM »
Went to the Matisse last night. We have been before and have to say, this place never disappoints. Wonderful reception when you arrive, staff are so efficient and professional.   A new addition is the hard plastic windows  which are a good idea for the day as it gets windy on the Kordon.
Drinks ordered and brought right away.  Free water as usual, small meze free starter with hot bread. Then we had the large meze  starter for two, because we just love it.   Two main courses, lamb kebabs and beef stroganoff with lots of fresh vegetables.  A beer, a G.&.T.  A large glass of red wine and two Irish Coffees followed by a huge plate of very fresh mixed fruit.   Bill was 180 TL.   They even asked us would we like a run home.
Lots of Turkish people in there and lots come in for a coffee and a Hubble bubble pipe.  There are large comfy chairs and settees at the back of the restaurant.  We think we were the only Brits in there.
Thoroughly recommend this Restaurant and think it has become our favourite place to eat.
Going to try the breakfast this week.

It is along the Kordon,  Coming from Caiis on the long road with all the restaurants.   It is next to the Marine Restaurant.   Here is the Trip Advisor Review page it has a little map.

100% agree with you Jacqui, we have long been admirers of both the service and the food at Matisse.
Nothing is ever to much trouble for the staff,  the food is always plentiful and prepared perfectly, and often ( Monday just gone) they have a live band playing Turkish music that was able to be heard, but certainly not at a level that would stop you conversing comfortably with others in your party.

Last year the Matisse was owned by Yetkin who is an old business partner of Scunner. Does anybody know if this is still the same?

Yes, Yetkin is the owner although he is not around that much.  We know Yetkin from his days at Lagoon Estates, he showed us the our Villa 11 years ago.  Yetkin's Brother owns the Marine Restaurant next door.

we love this place as well, ilker in the seating area and Hakan in the restaurant cant do enough for you, we end up there most nights, great music great food.

i think the best Nargile in that area as well, Ahmet is always happy to see us, we have followed him from Kumsal pide (olu deniz) and then Boazici, his brother still works at Kumsal Pide, if your into shisha these in my opinion are the places to go. ( and ive tried all the rest!)

Hakan is a lovely guy.  I agree, he is efficient and so caring.  He is even working this week with a broken bone in his arm.  He has it all strapped up after falling from a boat.
Glad we bid for and got a voucher for The Matisse from the 3c's Auction last night. ;D
