you do not need a phone line it is optional for interactive programmes but mos are in turkish.  the box os fitted with a modem but in nearly 2 years we have nt used it.

Phone connection also makes it easy to order pay per view, otherwise you have to phone Istanbul and hope they understand you, most times they do but sometimes you sit down with tv snacks to watch a good film and wait and wait and wait!!!!!
