Does anyone know what the dentists are like in Turkey and do they have orthodontist? because we are thinking of moving to Turkey in the future and i have to give this a thought as my son is due a brace this year and i think he will need one for at least 18months.

Hi Karen. If you type dentists into the search at the top you will find lots of info about dentists. They appear to be excellent. It seems that in some areas of the U.K parents are now having to pay for their children to have treatment from an Orthodontist. Including braces. Anne.

Hi Karen,
The dentist I use in Fetiyhe is excellent, speaks brilliant English and so much better than any dentist ive been in the UK,I had a root canal treatment and had an 'ickle' panic attack half way through,he was so patient and kind which restored my faith in dentists!
His no is 0252 6148703 and his mobile is 05334701525
Hope this helps

My husband had dental treatment in Fethiye last year and was very impressed with the results. It also cost a fraction of the price he would have to have paid in the UK. (If he could get treatment here that is![:(!])

thanks for that katespot will give him a ring need a couple of fillings

Thanks for info on dentists, i looked on previous dentist forums and found a couple of dentist's on the Search facility which was in Fethiye. When i looked on there web sites i was quite impressed, they looked quite posh nothing like ours and there prices were really reasonable as well. As for orthodontist's if anyone else wants one, there isnt one in Fethiye but there is one in Antalya and Izmir.

Here is another dentist if required, he can be found just behind Axa insurance, his name is Volkan Ozdag telephone no. 0252 614 7115 mobile 0555 356 7309. He speaks excellent English and he will show you on screen the work he will carryout. He guarantees his work and will also offer you a 24hour callout in case of emergencies. Not sure i would really want to get him out of bed in the middle of the night to work on my teeth!

the turkish have to travel out of fethiye for this treatment so bear this in mind

What are the basic prices or do they charge different prices in each Dentist?

Just to say having broke my tooth & filling last week in Calis i was in need of a dentist.
Many thanks for your recommendations - I use Volkan Ozdag as recommended below. Excellent.
I has my very large filling replaced and he then sorted out my 2 front teeth - they were uneven and slightly chipped. He filled both chips, narrowed the gap in the middle.
Total price including the scale & polish, 3 fillings and the cosmetic work 260YTL.
I thought this was excellent, will be going back next year for a crown replacement & bridge.
I think Turkey has a standard price for dentistry & my prices come out straight of the book.

Sorry I've dragged up an old thread. Can anybody tell me if the Dentist's mentioned in this thread still active? & does anybody know their current scale (no pun intended :-\) of charges please :)
I can't do a :D at the mo because the worry of my situation is causing me to 'Grind' my Teeth very badly, I've now broken a (filled) tooth in half :(. Would have to be the B-front half :(

I go to Volkan every time I go to Turkey.
Last time crown & filling crown 330 lira (approx.) filling 89 lira (white) a scale & polish 80 lira (which I think is expensive & not much different from the UK).

:) Thanks Maddy, sorry I missed your posting before, gap in my mouth is affecting my brain lol :-\ 80 YTL for a Scale & Polish IS expensive :o but the costs of Crowns seem reasonable 8)
I have an appointment with my Dentist here tomorrow and just wanted to get an idea of costs before I go :o I may get him to 'dolly' the gap up until I go over again 8) Thanks again :)

:) Hi Calvin, I don't have any problems getting an appointment with my Dentist here (he's very good) it's the cost that I have a problem with 8):(.
Thanks for the info anyway 8)

Can anyone clarify if the scale and polish also includes a check up please. Was going to pay him a visit in May when I was out but ran out of time.
Thanks in advance.

I saw my Dentist yesterday, happily he's been able to fashion a repair to my tooth (for the time being) :) But I will need a crown in the longer term.
I was pleasantly surprised at the charge for the repair (veneered) & a follow-up appointment which includes a full check-up in a few weeks time, total of £45.00, approx 110 YTL [^] 8)

I understand Dentists have a price list they adhere to, Carole is just having 3 fillings at the new Medical centre in Calis, the price is 300tl for white fillings, she has just had 1 and the other 2 tomorrow. I think this is reasonable what have other people paid

The tariff that dentists use is produced by the government and displays the maximum amount that can be charged for a particular proceedure.
It's similar with drugs. When you buy an item in a chemist it has a "rrp" marked on it and that's the maximum a chemist can charge for it.

i went to volkan when my crown came off in aug he replaced it and gave me 6yrs gaurentee cost 5ooytl
it came loose 4mths later i went back and he told me to stop moving it,then another crown came off and i went again he told me i needed bridgework doing and the cost i cannot remember but it was daylight robbery
i went to the dentist in england who replaced the crown for £18 and told me i did not need bridgework

As I write this my wife is seeing Cagatay (member of this forum) and is having 4 crowns and 3 fillings and teeth whitened all for the same price (less actually) as a single crown in the UK
