Went to the Mandalin Bistro Restaurant which is inside the Akkent Garden hotel, former Boston Hotel, for lunch today. They have refurbished it and it looks beautiful. There's a very good choice of food on the menu, we opted for the Swiss burger, which is served with a side salad and chips.  The burger and chips were home made. The plate was hot for the chips and burger and  left. cold for the salad. In hubby's and my opinion, it must be the best burger and chips we have tasted in this area. We are planning to go for an evening meal there.  They also have a Christmas and New year menu which looks very nice. I believe the Manager will be adding the menu on CBF.

Tonight we went with friends to the Mandalin and have to say that it was really good. The menu is not extensive (I like that) but a real nice mixture of Turkish and European dishes. For instance, the restaurant manager explained that at this point they only list three fish dishes on the menu because they offer fresh fish as with the other choices.

We were served an appetizer with compliments of the chef which consisted of mini lavash bread, a pepper and garlic butter and a special minced meze which was a revelation.

The starters we had were really good but beware if you are not a big eater, they are big, the sesame chicken and the chicken quesillda are like main meals, the shrimp cocktail and smoked salmon starter were also delicious. We couldn't fault our starters.

Our mains were also delicious, they are not over priced by any standard yet the quality was in my opinion, top notch.

Hope they make a success here, restaurant manager Yusuf is a great host, the venue and furnishing is outstandingly good, well done Mandalin, we will definitely be back.

I've heard a lot of very positive feedback from lots of different people about this place. Looking forward to trying it when I'm back in Fethiye.

We finally went on Friday and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The restaurant was pretty busy and it seems that most people had reserved but even though we hadn't we were given a nice table next to a heater.

I was especially happy with my smoked salmon starter which was plentiful as you can see and good value for 20TL.

I opted for a steak (200gms) with asparagus sauce - I asked for the sauce to be served on the side rather than on the steak, which I was told is how it is normally served; it came in a side bowl (not shown in the photo). The steak was perfectly cooked and just as I ordered it. Very tender and much better than I have had elsewhere. A plate of vegetables not shown in the photos was also served.

Doğan had steak cut into strips served on chips and vegetables and topped with a tomato based sauce.

We were also served an appetizer of little breads and garlic butter. It was accompanied by something made with egg; personally we weren't so keen on that. The breads and garlic butter were just right though.

We were particularly impressed with the staff team, who were welcoming, friendly and attentive without being in your face.

If you are over on holiday it is certainly worth a visit away from the prom and the Kordon to eat there at least once. We will certainly be back and I would definitely recommend.

Hi all,

We visited the Mandalin last night, ideal place as the evenings are quite cool at present, the place was very well presented and staff great.
My Mum had Lamb Chops, Lana Chicken Kiev and Turkisk Kabab very nice and would go again.

It's right opposite the Big Kipa and Burger King in Calis, further down the Sunday market road.

The boss and I have been many times and we have found out that when it is a full house, they have a difficulty in coping.
Having said that, we go earlier in the evening and never had one complaint at all.

Yes, Nichola has nothing to lose as they have their own fabulous restaurant 'Mosaic Bahce' but it doesn't mean she can't compliment another good eating place. It somehow just means a bit more.  :D

We've been to the Mandalin 4 times now and would say that it is on a par with Mancero for quality of food.  The setting in the garden is lovely, the service personal and helpful (turkish speed which is great for relaxing before your meal). Last night I had the best steak ever in Turkey, the veg nice and the chips are double fried crispy. That and a beef stroganoff,  2 glasses of wine, a beer and coffee were 94tl - very good value in anyone's book. Such a shame we were the only diners there. Get there quick - use it or lose it.

A group of us are going to Mandalin this Friday.

Can anyone confirm their salmon salad starter is still on the menu and it is still presented like this?
