Title: Turkish Breakfast Recommendations Please
Post by: Scunner on April 02, 2017, 11:01:41 AM
Although we are going B&B again, I can't face the same selection every morning.

Did the Sovalye Island Ada Restaurant one last year and that is my favourite in Calis/Fethiye currently - fab experience if a bit pricey...

Fancy trying Saat Restaurant - is it every day or just weekends?

All recommendations really appreciated - I don't drive on hols if I can avoid it so walking distance or walking distance from a dolmus would be great.

Cheers!

We were invited by a Turkish friend for Sunday Breakfast at the Bogazici Restaurant on the Kordon.  Lots of Turkish people having breakfast there, think at the time we were the only Brits.  Huge breakfast with a great choice.

We went here last year with some friends and it was delicious - great variety and very little 'pink" meat.   ;D

Think that may have been the one we've been to Jacqui, though for the life of me I couldn't remember the name of it when I first read Scunners post earlier. We were also taken by Turkish friends for Sunday breakfast. Great spot to eat a leisurely breakfast and great choice.

What time of year did you both go? I imagine it might get very busy on a Sunday in high season.

Denizati, also on the Kordon, seem to be a big favourite with the locals

Was probably late May/early June when we went Scunner. Usual time of year for us. It was busy, mostly with local Turkish folk I think.

Yes us too Marina - we have found October to be too hot sometimes! Can't believe we managed five full time summers.

We have a date in Cyprus this October so Calis had to be July this year. Wish us luck. :D

Scunner, We were there in June we arrived ath 10.30pm and there were tables available.
After that we found the place at Yaniklar and loved the Turkish Breakfast there. Worth a trip out as it is a lovely place with beautiful views and a river running right passed it. It was so and cool under the trees and very peaceful.  Second time we visited we took our Turkish friend who was really impressed at 20TL each.   I did a review of it here a while ago.
This is it.  We will be back next month.
-----------------
The Huzur Sofrasi is in Yaniklar right out in the countryside you go along the D400 towards Dalaman and when you go under the bridge you see the sign on the right for the restaurant, follow the road for 3.5k and you will find it, it is easy to miss. It is on a farm and has all the chairs and tables set out under trees and grape vines. There is a river running next to it and you can sit at a table and watch and listen to the river. We had a huge Turkish Breakfast home made flat bread, soda bread pancakes (all hot) and lovely mixes of herbs and seeds, the lady cook explained how she had pick the herbs that morning and made some of the dishes up, honey, butter, three kinds of cheese, three kinds of home made jam, a lovely bowl of treacle and a sesame seed and peanut dip, a plate of hot chips, a frying pan of hot eggs, cucumber, tomatoes, spring onions, melon and a love bar of pink sweetie that I think is called Helva. A bottle of water, a pot of tea with hot water and we finished with Turkish Coffee and then the guy asked us did we want anything more. All for 20TL each.

We had a walk along the river and it was so lovey and quiet. There are grapes on the vines. Herbs, onions, Gourds, Pumpkins all growing around the place.

They speak very little English. It was our second visit and the first one was just with some English friends, next time we had a Turkish friend who spoke to the people running it and gave us some information. They do meals all day and they have a big trout pond. So fresh trout, they also do quail in season and lamb which you can ring and order to be slow cooked they also have village chicken. They have a menu in English an food was very reasonably price.

We love this place and will be back. It is mainly Turkish customers, but we did see some Brits there.

The owner told us that if anyone gets the dolmus to Yaniklar and rings him, he will come and pick them up. He also said as long as people come he will cook for them, so no set opening hours.

He also said his son in law is learning English, this was last October, so perhaps their English will now be better, but if you want to ring, best to get a Turkish friend to do it in the meantime. I would say it was busy when we visited on both occasions and we were there for about 3 hours both times just relaxing no one rushed us away. It is a real country Turkish restaurant very simple and not commercialised at all.

Details Huzur Sofrasi... Yuksel Boz, 0535 932 40 63. Or 0253 633 65 65Koyu Caybogazi Mahallesi.

If there is a group of you worth getting a taxi out.

We went to find Adanalı Hasan Kolcuoğlu Fethiye recently, sadly it was no longer there. Have had a beautiful breakfast at denizitsi? really nice. The one with the horses and lovely views, think it was yaniklar. They say izaleas at kaya is good too, friends go there often.

The Meekan in Koca Calis do a fab Turkish Breakfast, we go regularly. Brekkie is massive and you also get huge round cheese bread (its like a cheese pizza). They never charge me for my English tea's.  Last year it was the only place doing it for 20TL and they never charge me for my English tea's.  Lovely setting on the beach, with plenty of shade and good service.

Sorry in advance if my post annoys anyone   ;) as its not about a Turkish breakfast though im enjoying reading the thread as we want to go somewhere this year and spend a few hours having a Turkish brekky..did any CBF members who are also on fb and one of the Hisaronu groups see the mega English breakfasts some of the bars were offering last season, completely huge no way could i eat all that in one go, i think it became a bit like a man versus food challenge to see if anyone could finsh a whole one...

Would recommend Mattise restaurant on the Corden. Open buffet style , so you can graze to your hearts content. About 10 mins walk from the Denizeti. Well attended by Turkish folk, so it must be good.

Mattise is good, but I don't think Scunner will be visiting.   ;)

Try limon h2o cafe . Its not tradasyonel turkish breakfast but i like it.( and also i think turkish breakfast is not fix. All region eat own cheap and delicius daily meal .maybe boiles egg is standart but its universal breakfast food) but also turkish breakfast meal is generally salty (except honey and jam ) some mediterannen culture eat sweety meal on breakfast like morocco or france but italy and turkish cusine is salty . And last words turkish people cant eat pancake .... if sombady say this is 'turkis pan cake' it is big lie cause pancake is sweety . Turkish people eat gözleme or bazlama it include white cheese or patato or green vegetables . Any Pancake is not fhirst thing for any turkish people . Turkish Merchandist make a naturel gözleme and than put ower nutella or honey sell to you turkish pan cake  :) hahahahahahaj No it is not pancake or gözleme it is kind of transgözleme or transpancake for turist  :) have lovely days .

We have eaten at the Limon H20..  Not had breakfast, but had lunch.  It is a very good place to eat and a lot of Turkish people use it, which is always a good sign.
Nice handy place opposite the P.O in Fethiye.

Following Nichola's recommendation last year we tried the Unique Hotel, in Fethiye, for Turkish breakfast. The food was great and the setting is fantastic ... a unique experience. We went in late September and as the hotel seemed quiet we just stayed around their pool for the rest of the day.

It's a short way up the road opposite the Yatch Boutique hotel.

See Nichola's original post for photos.

The Unique won an award last year for best Boutique Hotel in Europe.   One thing to keep in mind is, it is an adults only Hotel, so cannot take the kids for breakfast.

Try Nevrin's Kitchen just down from the Dolphinless roundabout roughly opposite Calis Taxis.
Used to be a bag shop but now laid out like a small cafe selling only Turkish food.
Not a place you would go for a special meal but they do a very good Turkish breakfast and the main meals are also good.
Used a lot by Turkish customers and that's always a good sign.
Surprised that it had not been mentioned before.
