Title: Turkish Translation-help needed!
Post by: Carpete on January 26, 2006, 20:01:41 PM
Having made some small and slow inroads into a "translation" computer CD I can at least now get it to print! However I have no idea if the translation is any good at all as I don't speak Turkish!!!  :-\Can anyone please tell me how accurate the following sentances appear in Turkish please?[?]
Please can you tell me if this program is  anything like accurate in the translation of the  following sentences?
.......................
We hope that all your family had a happy holiday. We send our best wishes to you.

BIZ, ÜMIT ED, ÞU, BÜTÜN, SIZIN, AILE, SAHIP OL, BIR, MUTLU, TATIL, BIZ, YOLLA, ELIMIZDEN GELENI, ARZU ED, SIZE,
..........................................

Please can you tell me if this program is accurate in the translation of the sentences?

LÜTFEN, LÜTFEN, , SIZ, SÖYLE, BANA, EÐER, BU, PROÐRAM, , DOÐRU, IÇINDE, , TERCÜME, , ,

.................................................

It is not possible to make the program run with English titles.

O, , DEÐIL, MÜMKÜN,  E, YAP, , PROÐRAM, KOÞ, ILE, INGILIZCE, ÜNVANLAR,

 .................................................

We are hoping that we can use this program to help us in Turkey.

BIZ, , SEK, ÞU, BIZ, , KULLAN, BU, PROÐRAM,  E, YARDIM ED, BIZE, IÇINDE, TÜRKIYE,

 ...................................

Cheers. Carol :)

Carol, It seems that that machine just translates one-to-one, evident from the name, as a dictionary. It is a machine in the end; but the translation should read as follows:

Umariz tüm ailenin tatili gayet güzel geçmiştir. En iyi dileklerimizle:.

This is peppered with the culture, therefore it is arranged as how a Turkish person would utter the same feelings.

I hope this helps.

Bye

Only just started to try and learn Turkish so I'm no expert, but as previously stated it looks as if it is just doing a literal translation of each word and not actualy constructing sentences. So I think you can only use this as a dictionary.

Hi Carol,
You really need Turkish lessons to learn how to construct the sentences, The word order is completley different to ours,
you can see the computer has just swapped word for word, by the amount of comma's.

Tinx ;)
