Is Prince Philip polite?
He gets away with his repellent remarks because of his age, even though he made them when he was a lot younger.
I don’t count speaking about his achievements, or lack of, as impolite by any means. 
Growing old is not an achievement;  my 92 year old mother waited two hours to see a doctor in A&E this morning, most of it in a corridor.  Would this have happened to a royal. 
An abhorrent person is an abhorrent person, no matter how old they are.

A terrible thing to say about another human being in my opinion.
