Harry Dunn and the CPS
« on: November 25, 2019, 20:56:02 PM »
Two years ago, based on CCTV evidence and within a month, I received a fine for using a bus lane in Aberdeen.

So what the sam hill are the CPS doing in the Harry Dunn case.

Absolutely disgusting.

The CPS had absolutely nothing to do with your fine H.

I understand that the CCTV of the accident that killed Harry Dunn clearly shows what happened as did the bus lane incident.

I think you're correct. She has also, apparently admitted the offence. However, there's confusion still about her claim to Diplomatic Immunity. That is currently being discussed between our Foreign Office, the FBI and the US Government. Until that matter's resolved, the CPS cannot act.

Why not ? I had understood that they were independent.

From the CPS Website:

Prosecutors must be fair, objective and independent. When deciding whether to prosecute a criminal case, our lawyers must follow the Code for Crown Prosecutors. This means that to charge someone with a criminal offence, prosecutors must be satisfied that there is sufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction, and that prosecuting is in the public interest.

(My assumption is that it is a criminal offence)

There are many appalling aspects of this case, but I think Raab’s assertion that the family pay the legal costs of the case - https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/dominic-raab-harry-dunn-death-family-legal-costs-foreign-office-a9212256.html
