Our Turn
Retired in May and intended to move over, We were going to sell up but have decided to keep our house in the UK and rent for a year, Found an apartment on the outskirts of Hisaronu and will be taking it over from October. Hopefully over next week unless our holiday gets cancelled. Usually, we only take hand luggage but we may as well take as much as we can ready for October.

Wishing you all the very best for your new adventure, we will be moving there in February 2021 it was going to be next month but due to covid 19 it has put us back a few months :(
-
Cheers
I think it may be wise to rent for a year or so under the current global climate. It's taken all the stress out of our decision to move over.

Best of luck with it all - it is quite an adventure :)

Good luck to you all, in your next adventures. Exciting times ahead. MrT, may I just advise for ovacik/hisaronu having a decent electric underblanket.
The dreamland intelli heat dual control ones are expensive but worth it,very cheap to run and can be set to run continually for 9 hours. Battery operated lights,th em cheap stick up ones. Thermal vests and sox. Oh and earplugs, the thunder veberates around those mountains. Good luck with your move, it's an amazing experience.

If it's advice from those who have done it before, here's one from me:
Don't lend anyone money. Turkish, British, or anyone else. A fiver or £5k. Make it a life rule.

Good luck :)

Just realized Mr T. you are only a couple of miles up the road from me :)

Cheers, I currently live a mile from the Yorkshire border. I think a little Yorkshire frugality may have seeped over the border as I already have very short arms and deep pockets. :)

He's one from me.
If a Turk asks you how much you paid for your house, halve the price when you tell him. He'll swear that he could've got it cheaper for you.

We are renting for a year, a Turkish friend sorted it out for us as we could not get over to look around, She went to places we found online and took videos of them for us and gave her opinion. We are more than happy with the price and the location.
