Don't forget to plan for quite high inflation in the future!!£100 a week now could be £150.00 a week in 3 or 4 yeras time!

I take note of the remarks about inflation, allways something to keep an eye on,I am reliably informed that circa £100 a week, covers cost of utility bills council tax gas water elec ect, food, petrol ect.
I read only yesterday a letter from the brother of a chap I work with, who moved to Turkey 18 mounths ago,Turinc, is it? Agian side.
and I quote from it " we pay all our household expences, we both smoke and drink, and we do it easy on a hundred pounds a week".

It does match the amount quoted in the past a couple of times - £400 a month.

Having just spent five weeks in our house in Calis I found that without having meals out we could live very well on a low budget; from what you have suggested in this thread I shall try to do my sums and work out how much it cost ( that is apart from the air con and security bars that we bought last visit!)
Pete and Sue
PS If I took out my Efes and Raki consumtion (Sue does not drink) we could live very well in Turkey

Canalman, I'd be very interested in the results of your cost of living calculations. All things being equal and God willing by this time next year my wife and I will be spending a lot more time at our place in Ovacik so the more we know about the actual cost of living there would be appreciated. Drifted a bit off the thread there,I have done some more checks with a Turkish guy I know here in UK.He thinks that spending a £100 a week very extravagent!
I am not including in this, any work, or decorating costs, this is just a week to week living cost.
