Title: So
Post by: mercury on April 15, 2017, 18:13:39 PM
What is it with these days that nearly everyone being interviewed on TV has to start with ."so" before they begin what they want to talk about.. It drives me crazy.

Unless they are sportspeople, in which case they have to start "Yeah! No!".

Or when you watch the Football.  The questions to the Manager's Players always start with. "How important?"
If the word "How" was taken away from Sports Reporters they would be totally lost.

Sorry Jacqui - I don't understand what is wrong with "How important"  :-[

Every question starts with "How Important". Such as, how important was that goal. How important is was it for you to win this match. How important was that penalty. How important is it for you to stay in up in the league.  How important was that pass from £$£$%% to help you score that goal. How imporant is it you are not relegated this year. How important was it for you to get a new Manager.
I think you get the picture, without these two words the interviewer would not know how to start a question.
Watch next time and listen.

How did you feel when you realised you'd won £9 million on the lottery

It's lazy, pointless journalism that wastes minutes from our lives.

I'm with Jacqui :D

To a journalist in the field...  From a news reader in the studio... "Can you give us a sense of how it feels" ?
