Kalettes
« on: January 08, 2017, 12:13:06 PM »
This week Hilary came back from the supermarket with a bag of these. They, it appears, becoming very fashionable. Normally I run a mile away from anything that might be considered "fashionable" - ugghh! However, these were described as a cross between kale and sprouts. Well I like kale and I love sprouts so I was happy to give it a go. The kalettes look like what kale blossom would be if kale had blossom. The taste is mostly from kale and the size and shape from sprouts. They appear to be a very versatile veg. and we had ours stir-fried with garlic to go with pork steaks and pommes lyonnaise. They were very good and I'd certainly like to have some more.
