Title: Are they listening after Reg has spoken?
Post by: usedbustickets on December 15, 2014, 16:33:12 PM
After Reg bo!!ocked the 'international masterminds' responsible for Turkey's economic problems on Friday.  The lira has continued its slide by a further 3% or so against the dollar/pound/euro today.  Particularly guelling (no pun intended) when the price of oil has tumbled and Turkey has benefited enormously as a big oil importer.  What's a matter with these people have they not heard that Reg has spoken, or is that they are not listening to (excuse the football analogy) the 'special one'?

All getting a little serious, as it could impact on next year's general election.  So we have got the usual Reg response - for the consumption of the pious or just plain stupid Turkish AK supporters - is to point at non existent enemies, within and without, arrest and jail individuals from one 'enemy' group or another, where possible, and most important of all start to lubricate with the use of government cash, where necessary, to motivate individuals, businesses, public administrators and politicos to ensure the correct result next year.  Bag of coal or washing machine anyone?

Yikes in the time it has taken me to post this and another post the TL has fallen to 3.725TL to the £.  That's nearly a 2% fall in that short time!!

Currently the TL stands at more than 2.39 to the $ having lost 4% of value today. This is worse than it was back at the end of January when the Central Bank threw mountains of dollars and then a walloping great interest rate hike at the problem. Any emergency CB meetings announced yet?

Still this is better than "oil rich" (ho, ho) Russia that has lost 10%+ against $.

The world financial markets and the international alliance of PAT (Poets Against Turkey) may not rate President Erdogan's balanced and moderate government but what they don't realize is that he doesn't give a fig (plenty of those now that they aren't being used for the devil's brew - raki) for the EU since he is building a new Ottoman Empire starting with Somalia where they think the 21st Century Sultan is bloody marvellous.
