Did i read a post that stated that wine had been zero rated for tax, or was i dreaming, only i do not see the price of wine coming down in the bars etc?
-
that would be great if it has, have to say am a bit of a wino and have found the prices in Turkey in the past really expensive maybe I used to 3 for a £10 from Asda

i think you will find that its not true..import wines taxation has been reduced, which should be a good thing for wine drinkers
-
I read that the OTV? tax had been removed which accounted for 63%. However, I was also under the impression that this was for imported wines .... I've not noticed any examples of this in the supermarkets however!

Cenk posted it and said it was to encourage Turkish wine producers to make better quality wines, so I can't see the above being correct.

Thanks for information but the google translated version doesn't offer much clarification.
I was referring to Cenks originl post:

"Resmi Gazete'nin bugünkü sayisinda yayimlanan Karar'a göre taze üzüm şarabinda daha önce yüzde 63 olan nisbi ÖTV sifirlandi."
According to the decison which is published in official gazette today (31.12.2009), OTV, that used to be % 63 for grape wines, is removed now.
It says tax is removed for wines, NOT for imported wines. I didn't notice any discount either. Let's wait and see.

Dogan has had a read of the Turkish article and this is what he says it says.
The tax has been cut for quality 'expensive' Turkish wines only. So for example a bottle currently costing 40tl will drop in price to about 30tl.
Hope this helps... :)

there was an article in the fethiye times on the 4th jan. saying that the additional tax on imported wines had been abolished making it good news for wine drinkers.

Dianaj i can see you are a bit of a wine connoisseur ,if you look around there are plenty fairly good red wines in turkey and you can pick for a better price 4 for 22 tl about £9 dont know about white wine ,i.e telebag 4.85tl 70 cl dikmen 6.50 tl assuri 5.25 tl and they are just as good as asda wines, but you get what you pay for. ;)

Yes found the shop close to the dolphin roundabout to be the best value around in Calis, always found after 4 or 5 glasses they all taste pretty good
