1987 Hurricane
« on: October 13, 2017, 18:47:25 PM »
Almost 30 years since Michael Fish famously discounted that a hurricane was imminent.
I managed to get to work in London but the site was unsafe so came home.We had some fence panels down and lost a few roof tiles.but far worse damage was done in Essex.
Did it affect any of you members ?

Yep. We were living in Maidstone and I was commuting to Southampton each night for work. We lost an entire wall and roof from the depot. We also lost 18 of the 22 conifers in our garden. Our next door neighbour who bred guinea pigs and hamsters lost almost all of them when their shed was destroyed. Still, we were far better off than many others.
