Cicek-Recent visit.
« on: January 15, 2005, 16:48:20 PM »
Returned from Turkey a few days ago. Stayed in Colakli near Antalya for a few days.....lovely hotel, shame about the area!...... :-\ before catching the Fethiye Koop bus to Fethiye. The only large Pammakuli coach that does this route in winter daytime hours  is at 1pm from Fethiye - Antalya  incidentally. Lovely journey. Took 4 hours, 1 stop in the mountains and cheap as chips. The time passed very quickly as the scenery was so spectacular. Great to be back on Cicek and find that we had no frost damage, no water damage, everything worked apart from one heating unit and the bougavilla was in bloom. Seems unreal now that every morning there I picked the roses from the gardens for our breakfast table! Had to eat inside though a.m. and pm but nice enough to sit outside after 10 am, lunch outside and have a few beers at the Birlik :Dand watch the sunsets each day or sit in Annas bar :D by the fire and chat to Ali later in the evening.   Pretty  cold at night though, about the same as the UK I would say but the days were fantastic especially compared to last year. The site still has dirt from dredging on it but it has now been distributed into sections. Some in piles by the fence, some over in piles in the gardens.  On our last day a JCB cleared the road of a large impassable heap so presumably traffic running through will clear it or flatten it at least  eventually. We were suprised that no site maintence seemed to be taking place as the weather was ideal for it. Nothing was too  bad but the gates and  bridge needs some attention as does the lighting system to function properly. It will be interesting to hear   any results from the site meeting on Sunday. Mavi Kent and Saglik were both dry this year with a bit of dampness in the gardens of Mavi Kent only, not the houses. Both sites were very quite indeed. There are quite a lot of new villas being built both down the road from the Alperin to the Dalaman Road and the road from Mavi Kent to Dalaman Road but no sign of road resurfacing on either yet. The new Antalya - Dalaman Road bypassing Ciftlik running between the village and Cicek area is nearly complete and now flattened though not surfaced. It may well be in use soon we would think.  Yet more properties sold on the site and one more permanent resident alongside Alf is expected. That will mean at last 4 permanent residents, both Turkish and non Turkish. A rumour was heard that Hakkars house was to be sold but we have had no confirmation of this. Thanks for trying Tel. I dead-headed the flowers where appropriate and everyones little house looked ok, no frosted solar panels this year! Nice dry grounds.  The goats and sheep were inside the fence again twice in a week so they had a good nibble and Mustafas chickens are  now truly free range as their hen house has gone completely now. Egg hunting for Easter! LOL. Looking forward to spending 8 lovely weeks there from April onwards for starters.[^] Very hard to leave indeed. Look forward to meeting all the new Cicekens in 2005!
