Post by: tinkerman on September 15, 2009, 15:41:50 PM
We have friends coming over this week and want to give it a go :o,
has anybody been recently, where is it done and do  you need an agency to get you there?

I know Hamish McTurk do it for £35 per head with transfers and bbq.

went last year, great day out, dalaman, most of the tour shops do it.
and you all end up in the same place with the same people regardless who you book with. be prepared for a very long day 7 in the morning till 9 pm, and you will sleep like a baby that night:D
To really enjoy it you need to be reasonably fit

Get some insurance Tinx.. There is a lot of this White Water Rafting in Scotland... Over here the Companies have Liability Insurance but they still advise customers to also get there own insurance as it's classed as a Dangerous Sport... We have friends who go Rafting apparently you need to be really fit as it's very stressful on the arms.

it was Brilliant 8), best day out since we have been here, great value for money at  £30 a head.

Quite a fair bit of travelling but well worth the 3 hours plus on the river or in the river:D

Pick up from Home, drive by small coach to Dalaman river dam, stopping on route for smoke breaks, its along and windy road around the mountains with superb views as you climb upwards.

You then reach the rafting centre for lunch and kitting out, then onto another bus down to the dam with all the gear.
Then you will be shown all the safety aspects and run through the commands about moving around the boat when needed :o

Then its carry the boat down to the water and get ready for the dam to be released and away you go, it has some very hair raising moments along the way but fully enjoyable, as I said 3 hours plus on or around the raft:D
Then its back to the centre for a good meal and drinks and back on the bur for the sleepy journey home.

You do have the opportunity to buy the dvd 70ytl, so best get a group of you together, buy one and copy it or a dvd with just photos for 40ytl, I have a copy of our dvd if anyone wants to borrow it.

Excellent day out and maybe worth a cbf trip:D what say you lot?

I did the Dalaman rafting yesterday with Billy Cullen & it was really good. I had done this one last October & have previosly done the Tay, Tummel,Feshy & Findhorn in Scotland.

I would be up for a CBF rafting day as it would be a good way of meeting folks.

The only negative point to our day on the Dalaman yesterday was 5 rather mouthy yobs in our raft  who were that thick & obstinate that they could not/would not follow the guides instructions.
