Ordered a take away tonight. Phil collected it ready in 15 minutes, have to say after about two years of not usng this place, the takeway was really good, no complants at all, spot on tonight. Really enjoyed it.
-
you would have enjoyed it better Jacqui when it was 7 LIRA cheaper.
-
Glad you finally got to try it Jaquie and even at 7 lira dearer it's still great value and well worth it. ;)
-
Thoroughly enjoy the odd take away from there...

Yes, we had an old out of date menu which would have made it around 40 odd lira. but it was 60 odd lira. (cannot remember the exact amount) However, no complaints, we are getting a lot more Lira for our Sterling now. Meal was lovely and we will use them again.

Makes no difference at all how many Lira you get for a pound, that's still a 50% increase.
It really makes me angry when you question an increase in price only to be told well you do get a lot more lira to the pound now. Shouldn't make any difference, if an article is 10tl, then it's 10tl irrespective of what you get to the pound.
I wonder if these increases will be reversed when the lira drops? somehow I doubt it.

fair comment Jacqui. great value for the tourists. such a shame as we supported them from day one. such a hike as per previous posts.

Quite often rents are paid in pounds so a business owner will need to increase the TL price and I assume that Shanghai Blues imports a lot of their goods/spices so that sill also affect the price.
Same as the increase in insurance, electricity, tax, etc.

The price increase was over a year ago and that was after their prices had been unchanged since the day they opened - get over it! :)
It does'nt seem to have lost them much buisness though, still very popular....

I was about to say the same Philrose that the price increase was a fair while ago now...On our recent trip we had a lovely sit down meal, very nice lady was running the place that night, our portions were huge we were stuffed!
We also had a takeaway delivery one evening which was also great, these were two of our best meals defo :)

If you choose to live in a tourist area you'll pay tourist prices...

Looking to pop over for a take away from here tonight, any idea if they take cards or £ as running low on TL
Thanks

Four of us had a takeaway from here last night. As usual the dishes were absolutely superb. We all agreed this was the best meal we've had since we arrived. The Beef Satay is the best I have ever tasted.

Often passed, but never tried this restaurant, back in October so will pop in and give it a whirl :P
-
just a point to philrose and john f. if you read previous posts re shanghai blues it was the fact that it was an immediate hike of 7 lira on our normal takeaway. if this had been done in stages I would still be having my normal Saturday night take away. could not fault the food.
